Happy Independence Day weekend, America! It’s time to celebrate the holiday (and the long weekend) in traditional fashion with one of the most iconic events in all of competitive sports — the 2026 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
As usual, two titans of the competitive eating landscape are set to square off against their respective fields as Miki Sudo and Joey Chestnut headline the full list of competitors. While they won’t come anywhere close to 250 combined hot dogs for the nation’s 250th birthday, the pair may give the century mark a run for its money as they fend off the remainder of the field.
Be sure to settle in early with a hot dog of your own before the ESPN broadcast from Coney Island, New York begins at 12 p.m. ET. Here are the odds prior to the contest, as well as a tracker of hot dog totals and final results that’ll be updated as the action gets underway.

Men’s division:
Through the first minute, Patrick Bertoletti and James Webb largely kept pace with the GOAT and even looked like they might compete. However, Joey Chestnut blew the margin wide open soon after with incredible pace. At the halfway mark, he had consumed 42 hot dogs and held a 12-dog lead — that was good for over 8.3 hot dogs per minute, on track to shatter his previous record of 76 if he could continue. While his pace slowed down the stretch, Chestnut downed a grand total of 66 hot dogs on the day to claim his 18th Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest title. He finished with a 14-dog lead over second-place finisher Bertoletti, who tallied 52. Webb placed third with a total of 48.
Women’s division:
The women competed first, and to nobody’s surprise, Miki Sudo claimed her 12th career win on this stage. The superstar kept her undefeated streak alive with 38.75 hot dogs consumed. While she started at an incredible pace, she slowed down quite a bit after the five-minute mark before making a heroic push at the end. Behind her were Michelle Lesco and Domenica Dee, who took down 22 and 21.5 hot dogs.

Pre-event odds
Unsurprisingly, there’s a clear favorite at the top of the leaderboard on both the men’s and women’s sides of the 2026 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. To the surprise of no one in the men’s bracket, Joey Chestnut is back again at -2500 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to take the top spot, with the field listed at +500. After winning this event a record 17 times, including two outright dynastic runs, the GOAT of competitive eating finds himself positioned to add yet another accolade to his long and storied career. The over/under line for Chestnut is set at 70.5 hot dogs.
The next-closest competitor in the event winner market is Patrick Bertoletti at +1000 odds, but he’s a strong -225 favorite in the “winner without Joey Chestnut” market. James Webb and Geoffrey Esper are listed at +300 and +400, respectively.
In the women’s event, Chestnut’s GOAT counterpart Miki Sudo once again tops the leaderboard to win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. She’s claimed victory on this stage 11 times throughout her own career and holds the women’s world record with a career-high mark of 51 hot dogs. Her over/under line is set at 38.5 Nathan’s dogs consumed. She’s trailed by Michelle Lesco, who is listed at +800 to win on Saturday.
Outside of the futures markets for outright winners, DraftKings Sportsbook also offers markets on whether either of these two superstars will break their personal records. Chestnut, who set a career and event-highs with 76 hot dogs back in 2021, holds +350 odds to surpass his previous best. It would take a truly heroic effort for him to break that mark, but if anyone can accomplish such a feat, his mouth and stomach are suited for the task. As for Sudo, breaking her previous best of 51 hot dogs may also prove difficult, especially with long-shot odds at +550.
