The first day of Summer League action is here! The California Classic kicks off Summer League with two games: Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors Gold. The final game of today’s Summer League slate between the Lakers and the Warriors begins at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. This game is taking place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the home of the Warriors.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Warriors are a -2.5-point favorite, with the Lakers being a +114 underdog to pull off the upset. Check out my preview and best bet for tonight’s Lakers vs. Warriors game.

Lakers vs. Warriors Gold prediction, preview

The Lakers Summer League roster is headlined by 2026 first-round pick Cameron Carr, whom they selected No. 24. The Baylor guard is coming off a phenomenal season where he averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest while shooting 37.4 percent on three-pointers. Los Angeles’ roster also features Zhaire Smith, who was the No. 16 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Smith averages 20.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 35 games in the G League last year. Chris Mañon is also on their roster after averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 boards per contest in 13 contests for the South Bay Lakers in 2025.

The Warriors Gold team will be led by No. 11 pick Yaxel Lendeborg along with Will Richard and LJ Cryer, who played for the Warriors last year. Even though Richard was the No. 56 pick last year, he still became a contributor for Golden State. Richard played 69 games, averaging 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 20 minutes. Cryer, who is on a two-way contract with the Warriors, averaged 8.2 points in 18 contests last year. Another contributor is Lajae Jones, the No. 54 pick, who averaged 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds at Florida State last season.

Lakers vs. Warriors Gold pick, best bet

With the Warriors’ backcourt of Richard, Cryer, and Jones, plus Lendeborg, they should have enough firepower on offense to beat the Lakers. The last time we saw Lendeborg on a basketball court, he helped lead the Michigan Wolverines to a National Championship. Lendeborg averaged 18 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in March Madness while shooting 46.7 percent from deep. It is unlikely that the Lakers will have an answer for the Warriors’ elite scoring attack.

Best Bet: Golden State Warriors Gold Moneyline (-135)
