They followed that up with a 1-0 win over a tough DR Congo team, and ended the group with a 0-0 draw against Portugal. Their defensive prowess was the standout part of their game in the group stage and that should help them against a Ghanaian team who only scored twice in their group.
Ghana finished third in Group L. They opened with a dramatic last-minute winner to beat Panama 1-0. They followed that up with a great defensive performance against England, drawing 0-0. In the last game of the group, they lost to the better team on the day, Croatia, in a 2-1 loss. The standout part of their game is the same as Colombia’s: their defense. That sets this one up for a game that might be a tough watch for the neutral.
Both teams will prioritize defense in this one, but Colombia will have much more of the ball and territory, with Ghana looking to counterattack. The likes of Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez up front for Colombia should be the difference as they get a marginal victory here.
