Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants prediction, pick for MLB on Monday 6/29/26

Arizona has turned this season series into something closer to ritual punishment. The Diamondbacks are 8-0 against San Francisco after opening this set with 5-4 and 8-2 wins. Ketel Marte has made the matchup personal, hitting .457 with five homers and 16 RBI against the Giants this year. He homered for the fourth straight game Tuesday, while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. added a first-inning three-run shot. Arizona finished with 10 hits, four multi-hit bats, and another night of clean traffic. The Giants have been punched around in the matchup, but this finale brings a different weakness. Zac Gallen’s name still carries gravity; his current form does not.
Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Diamondbacks vs. Giants prediction, preview

Gallen is the central reason this total stays playable at 9.5. He enters 3-7 with a 6.15 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 109 hits, 15 HR, 52 strikeouts, and 27 walks across 86.1 innings. The deeper sheet is just as loud: 13.3% strikeout rate, 1.56 HR/9, 5.24 FIP, 4.92 xFIP, .322 BABIP, and 63.9% strand rate. The contact profile has eroded with it. Gallen has allowed a .376 xwOBA, 90.5 mph average exit velocity, 43.9% hard-hit rate, 10.2% barrel rate, and 12.2-degree launch angle. That is too much traffic, too little swing-and-miss, and too many barrels for a pitcher still priced near old reputation.

San Francisco has enough left-handed contact and middle-order thump to attack that version of Gallen. Luis Arraez gives the Giants a stubborn table-setter against a starter missing fewer bats. Bryce Eldridge brings the best blend of patience and damage, with six homers, a 12.9% walk rate, .277/.368/.473 slash, .196 ISO, .366 wOBA, and 135 wRC+. Rafael Devers adds 15 HR, a .217 ISO, .459 slugging mark, .328 wOBA, and 109 wRC+. Heliot Ramos brings another contact-power lane at .263/.305/.429, with a .166 ISO and 102 wRC+. San Francisco’s broader form also supports the attack. The Giants carried a 126 wRC+ over the past month, even before the scoreboard fully reflected the contact gains.

Arizona’s answer is too strong to make this only a Gallen fade. Marte sits at 17 HR, a .222 ISO, .348 wOBA, and 119 wRC+, with matchup heat layered on top. Corbin Carroll owns 13 HR, nine steals, a .272/.360/.521 slash, .249 ISO, .378 wOBA, and 140 wRC+. Geraldo Perdomo keeps the top third alive with a 15.0% walk rate, 12.4% strikeout rate, .360 OBP, and 105 wRC+. Gabriel Moreno adds a .282/.368/.436 line, .354 wOBA, and 124 wRC+. Gurriel brings the recent three-run swing, while Adrian Del Castillo lengthens the left-handed pocket. Arizona has scored 52 runs in eight games against San Francisco this season. That kind of ownership deserves market respect.

Giants vs. Diamondbacks pick, best bet

Trevor McDonald is better underneath than his surface line, which keeps Arizona’s team total from topping the card. He is 2-6 with a 4.94 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, yet the foundation shows more survival traits. McDonald carries a 57.5% ground-ball rate, 0.71 HR/9, 4.01 FIP, 4.02 xFIP, and 4.5% barrel rate. His sinker-heavy shape can mute one-swing damage when the command holds. Still, the walks sit high enough, and Arizona’s lineup is too familiar with San Francisco’s staff. The bullpen map adds late scoring lanes. Arizona has used leverage across the first two games, while San Francisco needed Adrian Houser for 5.1 relief innings after Landen Roupp lasted 2.2 innings with six walks. Chase Field’s roof is closed, so this is about pitcher form and lineup quality.

The best bet is over 9.5 (-105), playable to -115. It captures Gallen’s decline, San Francisco’s improved underlying offense, Arizona’s season-long matchup dominance, and both bullpens’ late-inning exposure. Giants team total over 4.5 is a strong Gallen-specific pivot, especially if the lineup holds. Giants F5 team total over 2.5 is the plus-money version if the full-game number reaches 10. Arizona -1.5 has the season-series script, but Gallen makes the margin too unstable. This game has too many five-run paths on both sides.

Projected score: Diamondbacks 6, Giants 5.

Best bet: Diamondbacks vs. Giants o9.5 total runs scored (-105)
