Bryan Woo, Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels ($9,000) — Woo has had a strange season. The K-BB% is a solid 19.8% and he’s only allowed nine home runs through 93 innings, but the ERA is 4.26. The FIP is only 3.05 with the strand rate at 61.8%. That’s not the weirdest thing, though, as the volatility has been surprisingly wide. Take the seven most recent starts as an example. He has three games with fewer than six FPTS, including one outing with -0.2 FPTS. On the flip side, he’s gone over 30 FPTS three times! The one common denominator is that all three of those starts were at home. On the season, the FIP is 1.9 at home vs. 4.14 on the road. He’s at home for this one and gets to face an Angels team that strikes out at the highest rate of any club.

Brandon Sproat, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds ($6,500) — Sproat averages 96.8 mph on the fastball and has a 24.7% strikeout rate. Unfortunately, the walk rate is 10.8% while allowing 13 home runs in 69.2 innings. As a result, the FIP is 5.06. That said, he just faced Cincinnati in Great American Ball Park and put up 36.3 FPTS. I do have some concerns because the Reds will be seeing him for the second time in a short period of time, but this game is in Milwaukee and Cincinnati is second in strikeouts and 29th in wRC+. Plus, he’s very cheap.
INFIELD

Kody Clemens, Minnesota Twins at Houston Astros ($4,400) — Clemens has produced 13 home runs, 35 runs, 34 RBI and six stolen bases in 278 plate appearances. The strikeout rate is 20.9% while the ISO is .234. The average exit velocity is 92.7 mph while the barrel rate is 12.8%. He’s batting third in the lineup, and against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 125 with a .259 ISO. 11 of the 13 home runs have come off a righty. Mike Burrows has a 6.96 FIP and 4.3% K-BB% against lefties. 13 of the 19 home runs allowed have come off the bat of a lefty.

Anthony Seigler, Boston Red Sox vs. Washington Nationals ($2,400) — In 37 plate appearances, the walk rate is 10.8%, the strikeout rate is 18.9%, the ISO is .182 and the slash line is .333/.405/.515. That said, the batting average is fueled by a .400 BABIP and the Statcast numbers are not inspiring — 0% barrel rate and 68.1 mph bat speed. That said, all he’s done is produce fantasy goodies. Over the last six games, he’s produced at least five FPTS in all with three in double-digits. He’s cheap and is on a little heater.
OUTFIELD

Trevor Larnach, Minnesota Twins at Houston Astros ($4,000) — Larnach only has five home runs, 37 runs, 27 RBI and two stolen bases in 248 plate appearances. The plate discipline is good with an 11.7% walk rate and 17.7% strikeout rate, but the .288 batting average is fueled by a .343 BABIP. The average exit velocity is only 86.6 mph with a 7.0% barrel rate. I’m talking myself out of this play! Larnach is batting leadoff though, and against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 143 with a .154 ISO. Four of the five home runs have come off a righty. I mentioned in the Clemens section above how Burrows struggles against lefties.

Eli White, Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($2,600) — White is on the short side of a platoon, but lucky for us, lefty Matthew Liberatore is on the mound for St. Louis. Liberatore is allowing an average exit velocity of 91.1 mph with a 10.9% barrel rate. Against righties, the FIP is 5.1 with a 9.0% K-BB%. 11 of the 17 home runs allowed have come off the bat of a righty. White has a 105 wRC+ with a .167 ISO against lefties.
