Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds prediction, pick for MLB on Monday 6/29/26

Milwaukee comes home with a little irritation baked into the opener. The Brewers just lost an extra-inning game to the Cubs after going 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position, stranding 10, and wasting a bases-loaded chance in the 10th. They still sit 50-31, still lead the division by 5.5 games, and still swept Cincinnati last week. The Reds arrive with a louder weekend after scoring 19 runs in Pittsburgh, but this matchup gives Milwaukee the cleaner scoring path. The game has paths toward offense on both sides, yet the best angle starts with Nick Lodolo’s damage profile and Cincinnati’s late-inning leakage. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Brewers vs. Reds prediction, preview

Lodolo brings a 5.59 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 53 hits, 29 ER, eight HR, 18 walks, and 38 strikeouts across 46.2 innings. The expected numbers push even harder toward Milwaukee: 6.06 xERA, .289 xBA, .479 xSLG, .374 xwOBA, 90.1 mph average exit velocity, 39.5% hard-hit, 34.0% sweet-spot, and 8.5% barrel. His strikeout rate has slipped to 18.0%, which removes the old escape hatch. Robert Gasser carries a 4.50 ERA, but his contact sheet looks much cleaner with 86.3 mph average exit velocity, 28.6% hard-hit, 6.0% barrel, and .278 xwOBA. That starter split keeps the handicap Milwaukee-specific.

The one caution comes from Lodolo’s last look at this same lineup. He worked four scoreless innings with two hits, one walk, and six strikeouts before Jackson Chourio’s 107 mph comebacker hit his pitching wrist. That outing followed a blister stretch that affected his breaking-ball comfort, so the health and feel are still part of the bet. Milwaukee’s full-game team total handles that uncertainty better than a first-five bet. Lodolo can survive one trip through the order and still leave traffic behind. His season-long right-handed line gives Milwaukee the attack point: .286/.362/.521 allowed with seven HR across 143 PA.

The Brewers have enough concentrated form to turn that into five runs. William Contreras was Milwaukee’s best bat last week, going 6-for-18 with a .333/.455/.667 line, two HR, four RBI, three runs, and four walks. Chourio and Brice Turang each had seven-hit weeks, and the season-long production gives the lineup several scoring routes. Chourio owns 11 HR, a .297/.347/.530 slash, and 141 wRC+. Turang adds 11 HR, 13 steals, a .260/.363/.446 line, and 126 wRC+. Jake Bauers brings 14 HR, a .371 OBP, .492 slugging, and 140 wRC+, while Contreras sits at .301/.364/.432 with a 122 wRC+. That is enough right-handed and switch-hit pressure to beat Milwaukee’s modest lefty split.

Reds vs. Brewers pick, best bet

Cincinnati’s offense deserves respect, which keeps the full-game over alive. The Reds have hit .238/.328/.430 with a .758 OPS and 29 HR against left-handed pitching, and the expected order can stack right-handed stress around Elly De La Cruz. De La Cruz brings 12 HR, 10 steals, a .268/.339/.480 line, and 122 wRC+. Rece Hinds Stewart adds 15 HR, 11 steals, a .254/.342/.457 line, and 115 wRC+, while JJ Bleday gives Cincinnati 13 HR, a .351 OBP, .508 slugging, and 131 wRC+. Eugenio Suárez, Noelvi Marte, Tyler Stephenson, and Matt McLain can all punish elevation. Gasser’s contact suppression makes that path swing-dependent enough to avoid leading with over 9.

The bullpen and park context settle the market. American Family Field is listed with the dome in, so there is no outdoor heat boost to chase. Cincinnati’s relief group is the late target, ranked 25th with a 4.82 ERA across 334.1 innings. Pagán and Santillan sit in the injury picture, and the remaining bridge carries too many walk problems. Burke owns a 14.7% walk rate, Moll sits at 13.3%, Phillips at 21.1%, and Ashcraft at 14.7%. Milwaukee’s bullpen is sturdier, ranked ninth with a 3.76 ERA across 315.2 innings, with Megill and Uribe giving Pat Murphy better leverage options.

The best bet is Brewers team total over 4.5 at -115, playable to -125. The first-five team total asks for too much against Lodolo’s recent Milwaukee look, over 9 needs Cincinnati cooperation against Gasser, and Brewers -1.5 adds margin variance.

Projected score: Brewers 6, Reds 4.

Best bet: Brewers TT o4.5 runs (-115) vs. Reds
