After a thrilling few weeks of action, the knockout rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup are finally upon us.

It’s not a battle between top contenders in this tournament, but the upcoming meeting between Australia and Egypt could prove quite interesting. Both sides finished second in their respective groups; while the Socceroos aren’t loaded with star talent, they potentially face a resurgent Mo Salah for the Pharaohs… assuming he’s fit to play.

Here are the opening betting odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Australia vs. Egypt in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32.

Who wins this match is largely anyone’s guess. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Egypt is favored on the Moneyline at +150 odds. Trailed as the underdog is Australia at +225 value to win outright. The odds of a draw are set at +200.

As things stand at the time this article was written, betting splits show 82% of bets placed on an outright winner favor Egypt.

Egypt isn’t a true contender to win the World Cup barring an impressive run, but the squad has talent and finished with a 1-2-0 record for five points and a +2 goal differential in the Group G standings. The Egyptians opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Belgium, then downed New Zealand 3-1 in their second match. They closed group play with a 1-1 draw vs. Iran, but the status of Mo Salah looms large. He was subbed off 12 minutes into the second half, and per manager Hossam Hassan, the star asked to be replaced and is to be assessed for injury this week.

On the opposite side, Australia also finished second in the Group D standings. They went 1-1-1 for four points, though the goal differential ended up at an even 0. The Socceroos upset Turkey 2-0 in the opener, but dropped their second outing to the United States 2-0 as well. They closed things out with a 0-0 draw against Paraguay. Defensive football is the name of the game for this side, especially with a rather stout back line.

Bettors looking to get in on some alternative markets than traditional Moneylines have options. The match total stands out, with over 1.5 goals favored at -175 odds and the under set at +140 value.

Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. ET on Friday, July 3 in Arlington, Texas.
