The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Friday as Uruguay takes on Spain in Group H.
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
Best bet for Uruguay vs. Spain
- Spain Moneyline (-200): This price looks a little short for Spain on pure talent, but that is because the group-stage incentives matter. Spain is already in strong position and does not need to chase this match recklessly, while Uruguay likely needs a win to feel safe about advancing. That urgency should eventually create space for Spain’s midfield and wide attackers to punish a Uruguay side that has not defended cleanly through two matches.

Group H is still very much alive entering the final matchday. Spain leads the group with four points, while Uruguay and Cape Verde each have two and Saudi Arabia has one. Spain can lock up the group with a win and should still be in good shape with a draw, while Uruguay is under much more pressure after opening the tournament with back-to-back draws.
That context helps explain the Moneyline, which almost seems like it should be more lopsided than it currently is. Spain would probably be priced shorter in a neutral must-win spot, but this is not that. La Roja does not need to force the match open, and a draw would not be a bad result depending on how the other Group H game plays out. Uruguay, on the other hand, cannot feel nearly as comfortable with one point, especially with Cape Verde facing Saudi Arabia at the same time.
That makes this a tricky handicap, but it also points back toward Spain. Uruguay has created chances in this tournament, generating 1.54 expected goals in a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia and 2.32 xG in a 2-2 draw against Cape Verde. The problem is that Marcelo Bielsa’s side has not paired that attacking production with clean defending, and defensive mistakes have already cost it points.
Spain has been much more stable. The 0-0 draw against Cape Verde was frustrating, but Spain still created enough chances to win that match comfortably. La Roja then looked much sharper against Saudi Arabia, winning 4-0 behind the return of Lamine Yamal and a strong performance from Mikel Oyarzabal.
The risk with Spain ML is obvious: Spain does not have to chase the win as aggressively as Uruguay does. But that is also part of the appeal. If Uruguay has to push numbers forward, Spain should have more room to play through pressure, control possession and attack the spaces left behind.
Uruguay’s urgency makes this dangerous, but it does not make Uruguay the better side. Spain has been cleaner defensively, more convincing in possession and more reliable in the final third. The price is not as expensive as the talent gap might suggest, and that makes Spain ML playable even with the draw risk baked in.
