With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Rangers vs. Marlins NRFI (-125)
Toeing the slab tonight for the Rangers will be Cal Quantrill. The eighth-year pro has spent most of 2026 in the bullpen, but he’ll make his first start of the season on Tuesday. The Canadian is by no means a difference maker, especially at this stage of his career. However, he’s been effective for the Rangers. Over 29.1 innings, he’s notched a 3.68 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 19 strikeouts (5.8 K/9). During 55 starts made between 2024 and 2025, Quantrill has accounted for a 3.60 first inning ERA. The Marlins are no pushovers at the plate, but they could struggle in this spot. Miami has a .702 OPS against right-handed pitching, tied for seventh-worst in baseball.
As for the Fish, it’ll be Sandy Alcantara taking the hill this evening. After a shaky month of May, the former Cy Young winner is beginning to look like his old self. In his previous four outings, Alcantara has recorded a 2.89 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. He’s also put up a respectable 75.0% NRFI rate this season. Now, the veteran will take on a mediocre Rangers lineup. They’re averaging just 4.01 runs per game, fourth-worst in the majors. In addition, Texas has the league’s tenth-worst YRFI rate (28.21%). It’s difficult to envision an early score against Miami’s ace.
Guardians vs. White Sox NRFI (-150)
Parker Messick has been a pleasant surprise for Cleveland, emerging as a borderline ace. Through 15 starts (86.2 IP), the 25-year-old has put up a 2.70 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 91 strikeouts (9.5 K/9). He’s allowed two runs or less on 11 different occasions. Even more important, the southpaw has yet to allow a first inning run. That makes him one of the most promising hurlers for NRFI bettors. The White Sox wield an above-average offense, but they’ve been shaky in recent weeks. Chicago has scored 41 runs over its last ten games, ninth-worst in baseball during that time.
As for the South Siders, it’ll likely be Sean Burke to start on Tuesday. However, the team will occasionally utilize an opener during games he’s scheduled to pitch. Assuming it’s Burke in the first, he comes into this one with momentum. During 15 games (11 starts), he’s accounted for a 3.89 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 81 strikeouts (9.0 K/9). Regardless of who starts this one, there’s a decent chance the Guardians are held scoreless in the first. The team has a 25.32% YRFI rate, seventh-worst in baseball. As a unit, Cleveland is scoring the third-fewest runs per game in the league (3.99).
