Unranked featherweights collide on Saturday night, as Hyder Amil takes on Christian Rodriguez inside the Meta APEX at UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Horiguchi.

The once-undefeated Amil (11–2, 3–2 UFC) is coming off back-to-back flops, capped by a unanimous decision loss to Jamall Emmers in November 2025. Rodriguez (12–4, 5–4 UFC) has dropped three of his last four bouts, most recently landing on the wrong side of a split-decision against Andre Fili last August.

Rodriguez enters as a -205 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Amil is a +170 underdog, with the fight total set at O/U 2.5 rounds.

Amil vs. Rodriguez Preview

Hyder Amil

  • 11–2 (3–2 UFC)
  • 6–1 (T)KO
  • 1–0 SUB

With Hyder “The Hurricane,” nomen est omen. The Filipino-American contender is known for unleashing violent storms of haymakers on his opponents, something he put on full display during his thunderous first-round stoppage of JeongYeong Lee in July 2024. With such an electric style, it comes as no surprise that Amil began his career at a perfect 11–0, punctuated three straight wins in the UFC.

But at 36, the full-throttle contender may have run out of gas. Amil has dropped back-to-back bouts, getting sparked by Jose Delgado in 26 seconds before being taken down seven times by Jamall Emmers en route to an uninspired unanimous decision loss in November. On Saturday, he’ll look to prove he still has plenty left in the tank — that his relentless style isn’t solely a young man’s game.

Christian Rodriguez

  • 12–4 (5–4 UFC)
  • 3–0 (T)KO
  • 4–1 SUB

Christian Rodriguez is back in action after nearly a year away from the Octagon — and with a whole lot to prove. The Chicago native, 28, has dropped three of his last four bouts dating back to July 2024, looking to rebound from last August’s split-decision loss to Andre Fili.

While not conducive to performance bonuses, the 28-year-old “CeeRod” best positions himself to win when he stifles opponents with his formidable freestyle grappling. This is the guy who, despite landing only one takedown, racked up more than seven minutes of control time to derail the hype train of prized prospect Raul Rosas Jr. back in April 2023. On Saturday, he’ll look to get back in the win column by doing the same thing to Amil.

Amil vs. Rodriguez Pick, Best Bet

Amil revealed during his latest loss that he’s vulnerable against suffocating grapplers. Enter, a 145-pound wet blanket.

Rodriguez is uniquely suited to hinder “The Hurricane,” and he should look to smother him with top pressure from the opening bell. That said, Rodriguez appears to have grown accustomed to coasting to decisions and should seek the judges’ opinions Saturday night.

Best Bet: Christian Rodriguez by Decision (+125)
