In comparison, the Rangers have struggled to score runs when playing at Globe Life Field. Their 3.66 runs per game at home are the third-worst mark in baseball. To boot, Texas’ offense has a 25.71% YRFI rate when playing in Arlington, eighth-lowest in the majors.
The home team will send out one of their top arms tonight in Nathan Eovaldi. This season, the right-hander has notched a 4.23 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 83 strikeouts (8.6 K/9) over 14 starts. Despite a bit of inconsistency from the veteran, this is an ideal spot for any above-average hurler. Pick any offensive category – the Padres are near the bottom. San Diego has put up an MLB-worst 3.88 runs per game. In addition, the Friars have notched the league’s fourth-worst YRFI rate (21.62%). Evo should have little trouble escaping the first inning unscathed on Saturday.
Mets vs. Phillies NRFI (-135)
In this NL East grudge match, Freddy Peralta will toe the slab for New York. Over 83.0 innings of work (15 starts), the talented righty has put up a 3.90 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 81 strikeouts (8.8 K/9). The Dominican has been a bit uneven on the mound for his new club, but there’s reason to back him in the first tonight. Over the past two seasons, Peralta has produced an outstanding 83% NRFI rate. In addition, he’s recorded a sparkling 1.46 ERA over his previous five outings against the Phillies. Philadelphia has a .690 OPS against right-handed pitching, seventh-worst in baseball.
On the other side, it’ll be Cristopher Sanchez on the bump. Even on a loaded pitching staff, the former All-Star has emerged as Philly’s undisputed ace. Through 99.0 innings of work (15 starts), he’s delivered a minuscule 1.82 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 116 strikeouts (10.5 K/9). Unsurprisingly, Sanchez has been dominant during the first inning (80.0% NRFI). As for the Mets, they have a 25.64% YRFI rate on the road, 11th-worst in the majors. To boot, New York has the eighth-lowest OPS vs left-handed pitching (.682). Don’t expect an offensive outburst tonight against a superstar pitcher.
