- Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox: Tigers LHP Tarik Skubal under 6.5 strikeouts: Still bouncing back from an elbow injury that cost him over a month of action, Skubal didn’t look elite in his return and might not have enough in the tank to clear Friday’s line against Chicago.
- Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Guardians: Guardians RHP Tanner Bibee 5+ strikeouts: Bibee could take advantage of an Astros lineup that actually performs worse at home, plus he has hit 5+ K in 6 of his last 11 appearances.
- Colorado Rockies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates: Pirates RHP Bubba Chandler 5+ strikeouts: Chandler has completed at least 5.0 IP in five straight, reaching 5+ K in four of those contests, plus he is going against a Rockies lineup that averages the sixth-most strikeouts per game.
MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown
Taruk Skubal under 6.5 K (-103), Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox
Skubal missed over a month after undergoing an elbow procedure and got pulled after 80 pitches. He also only had four strikeouts through 4.2 innings. So while he owns a sub-3.00 ERA for the fourth season in a row, the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner is averaging his fewest strikeouts per nine innings since 2021 and the second-fewest of his career. I think he comes in under 6.5 strikeouts for the third time in four starts, even though Chicago averages the fourth-most strikeouts per game in MLB. The White Sox also rank No. 7 in team OPS+, plus Skubal only had six strikeouts when he tossed 7.0 scoreless against them in his lone start versus the division foe last season.
Tanner Bibee 5+ K (-128), Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Guardians
Through his first four starts this year, Bibee had only reached five-plus K once. He is six for 11 since, though, and he is coming off an eight-punchout showing against the Tigers. Bibee owns a 1.20 ERA and 0.600 WHIP in June, too, bringing his season marks under 4.00 and 1.200. On top of that, Houston’s OPS is 30 points lower at home than it is on the road, giving Bibee a greater chance to string together a longer outing. When Bibee lasts at least 5.0 innings, he is 7-for-10 when it comes to striking out five or more. Even with Houston ranking in the middle of the pack in strikeouts per game, their strikeout rate goes up 2% versus righties compared to lefties.
Bubba Chandler 5+ K (-135), Colorado Rockies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Over this last five starts, Chandler has reached five strikeouts four times. He is also averaging 6.4 punchouts per game in that span, hitting 11 once and making it to six and seven in his last two, so the ceiling is plenty high. The rookie’s 4.15 ERA over his last five may not pop out on paper, but his 2.40 FIP in that span shows that the underlying production is there. And while going to Colorado could be tough for a 23-year-old with fewer than 100.0 MLB innings under his belt, the Rockies average the sixth-most strikeouts per game in the majors.
