With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Guardians vs. Brewers NRFI (-110)
Taking the hill this evening for Cleveland will be Slade Cecconi. He’s not a household name, but the right-hander is a quality arm for these postseason contenders. Through 72.2 innings of work, he’s notched a 4.83 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 61 strikeouts (7.6 K/9). To boot, the fourth-year pro has been exceptional during the first inning. He’s accounted for a 78% NRFI rate over 37 starts since 2025. During his previous six outings, Cecconi has notched a stellar 3.13 ERA. He’ll hope to continue that momentum tonight against a dangerous Milwaukee lineup. However, the Brewers haven’t been the best when it comes to kicking off games. However, Cecconi excels at limiting walks (2.8 BB/9) and ground balls. Those are two things this talent-starved lineup does particularly well.
On the other side, it’ll be Robert Gasser on the bump. Milwaukee has made a habit of turning just about anyone into a quality starting pitcher. The 27-year-old has been rough through four games this season (6.38 ERA), but he has a decent track record of success. Over 11 lifetime starts, he’s produced a 3.98 ERA. Even more important, he’s delivered a standout 82% NRFI rate. In comparison, it’s been a difficult campaign offensively for Cleveland. The team is putting up just 4.01 runs per game, fifth-worst in baseball. To boot, the Guardians have scored an American League-worst 31 runs over their previous ten contests. At home, Gasser has a decent chance of keeping the visitors in check on Tuesday.
Rockies vs. Cubs NRFI (+100)
As always, the weak link for this Colorado squad is on the mound. Ryan Feltner is one of the team’s better arms, although that isn’t saying much. The sixth-year pro has recorded a 5.20 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26 strikeouts (6.4 K/9) this season. Unsurprisingly, he’s been a better pitcher throughout his career on the road compared to hitter-friendly Coors Field. Feltner comes into this one on a four-game NRFI streak. On the season, he has a 75.0% NRFI rate. In comparison, Chicago’s offense struggles to get going early. The Cubs have accounted for a dismal 19.18% YRFI rate, second-lowest in the majors.
As for the North Siders, it’ll be Edward Cabrera toeing the slab tonight. It’s been a difficult adjustment for the former Marlins hurler, plagued by injuries and inconsistency. However, he’s fresh off of a solid 5.2-inning, two-run showing last week in Denver. During Tuesday’s rematch with Colorado, the right-hander now takes the mound at Wrigley Field, a far better venue for pitchers. As for the Rockies, they’re a far less intimidating lineup away from home. They’ve posted a 20.51% YRFI rate on the road, fourth-lowest in baseball. As for Cabrera, he has a 91.7% NRFI rate over 12 starts this season.
