Ilia Topuria’s legendary run comes to an end as Justin Gaethje beat him by fourth-round TKO in the Main Event of the UFC card at the White House, UFC Freedom 250. After the fourth round, Topuria was unable to continue after being severely hurt.
Topuria’s perfect, undefeated record comes to an end after his first loss to Gaethje. He is now 17-1. Now, Topuria is 3-1 in UFC title fights.
After coming up short in his previous two Undisputed UFC Lightweight title fights, Gaethje finally captured the top prize in the sport. His record stands at 28-5 with 21 knockouts and is currently on a three-fight winning streak. Gaethje finished with 119 total strikes and 91 significant strikes. Topuria had 97 significant strikes and 111 total strikes in this contest. Gaethje said in his post-fight interview that he is unsure if he will retire or return to defend the title.
Before the fight, Gaethje was a +360 underdog and was +5000 to win by fifth-round KO/TKO/DQ on DraftKings Sportsbook.
