Week 1 of Love Island USA Season Eight is officially in the books, stamped by the first fan vote of the summer. With loyalties already being tested and connections hanging on by a thread, viewers, undeterred by a crashed app, got first dibs on deciding who the newest bombshells — Sol, Jen, and Caleb — would be paired up with next.

Early into Thursday’s episode, Melanie insisted, “I’m not going to go crazy in this villa.” Famous last words.
Already the relationship equivalent to Universal Studios’ VelociCoaster, Sincere tossed another corkscrew into his connection with Melanie by declaring that — even after kissing her twice — he was no longer interested in exploring a connection with Sol.
Then, as if anyone didn’t see it coming, Sincere pulled Sol for a chat in Soul Ties. Then, with Sol settled on his lap and Melanie seeking solace from Zach and Kayda, they locked lips yet again.
Meanwhile, Melanie did some exploring of her own by taking a trip to Say Less with Corbin. They settled on a kiss on the cheek, though she left the door open for further development. (Side note: Corbin reaaally needs to adopt a better flirting strategy than simply asking, “Can I have a kiss?”)
But after catching a glimpse of Sincere and Sol, Melanie’s optimism quickly faded, and she attempted to crash the party before getting stopped by KC and Aniya. She was later consoled by several of the islanders.
Word of Corbin’s two-timing also promptly got back to Kenzie, who surprisingly seemed more upset with Melanie — despite enjoying solid progress with Caleb.
Questioning the status of his relationship with Trinity, Bryce approached his best mate, Zach, about potentially sparking up a conversation with Kayda. And while his honesty was appreciated by Trinity, she voiced her reservations about the idea — already worried by their connection’s slow burn.
Thursday’s episode kicked off with a whole lot of “Kiss and Tell.” Hot on the heels of Sincere’s stunning reveal to Melanie that he kissed Sol, Kenzie fessed up to Corbin about to smooch with Caleb. He took the news a lot better than Beatriz did after Gabriel admitted to playing tonsil tag with both bombshells. Soon enough, the tea was spilling all over the villa.
Because the Love Island app crashed, the voting results have been postponed and will be revealed in Friday’s episode.
