A modest eight-game, 16-team slate is on the docket this Thursday across Major League Baseball. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look today?

Rangers vs. Royals NRFI (+105)
The Rangers wield some of baseball’s best starting pitcher depth, due in part to Kumar Rocker. The former top prospect hasn’t blossomed into a superstar at the professional level yet. Still, he’s slowly becoming a trusted piece of Texas’ rotation. Through 61.0 innings of work this season, he’s notched a 3.54 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 49 strikeouts (7.2 K/9). Over his last five starts, the right-hander has only allowed six earned runs (1.88 ERA). Thursday’s opponents, the Royals, are one of baseball’s worst offensive units. That’s especially true at the start of games and at Kaufman Stadium. When playing at home, Kansas City has a 20.59% YRFI rate; that’s the fourth-lowest mark in baseball.
KC will counter with a back-end starter of its own in Michael Wacha. Now in his 14th season as a big leaguer, the veteran remains a stabilizing force on the mound. Over 81.0 innings in 2026, he’s recorded a 3.44 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67 strikeouts (7.4 K/9). The righty hasn’t been at his best lately, allowing ten earned runs combined over his previous two outings. Regardless, he remains an undisputed master at starting off strong. Wacha has a sparkling 86% NRFI rate over the past two seasons. In 44 appearances during that stretch, he’s put up a 2.44 ERA. In comparison, Texas batters have accounted for the ninth-lowest YRFI rate in the league (26.87%). The Rangers are averaging just 3.61 runs per game, seventh-worst in the majors.
Mariners vs. Orioles NRFI (-130)
It’ll be Bryan Woo toeing the slab this evening for the Mariners. At this point, the right-hander has cemented himself among the best starters in baseball. Over 13 outings (77.0 IP), he’s produced a 3.74 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 75 strikeouts (8.8 K/9). A master of control (1.6 BB/9), his pinpoint accuracy could frustrate an Orioles offense that generates plenty of walks. Woo has surrendered a first inning run only twice over his previous ten starts (80% NRFI). In comparison, Baltimore owns an MLB-worst 16.22% YRFI rate at home.
On the other side, Kyle Bradish will get the nod tonight. It’s been a bizarre season for the 29-year-old so far. Despite a respectable 3.89 ERA, his 1.51 WHIP is second-highest in the American League. Despite a tendency to put runners on, the veteran is still someone you should trust in the first inning. Throughout his five-year tenure with the Orioles, he’s delivered a stellar 87% NRFI rate at Camden Yards. To boot, Bradish has given up a first inning run once over his previous ten starts (90% NRFI). Seattle is putting up just 4.23 runs per game this season, 20th in baseball. Keeping that in mind, I’ll back Baltimore’s hurler to escape the first unscathed.
