Disclosure Day Average Rating Across Major Review Sites
After converting Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, Metacritic, and Letterboxd scores to a 100-point scale, Disclosure Day currently holds an average rating of 73.3/100 across major review platforms. That’s not a bad score by any means, and it suggests that more viewers than not will enjoy the film. However, it’s not close in critical acclaim to Spielberg’s timeless classics. In that regard, this one could be a bit disappointing for moviegoers.

What the Ratings Say About Disclosure Day
Delivering on sky-high expectations was never going to be easy for this flick. On first glance, it seems like Spielberg is going for a more summer-friendly blockbuster. Still, there’s a level of critical prestige audiences expect at this point from the Academy Award winner. The director’s most recent film, 2022’s The Fabelmans, was a more quiet, character-driven piece. In that regard, Disclosure Day is a return to some of Spielberg’s earliest works. The alien premise reflects a theme seen in films such as 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Manohla Dargis of the New York Times praised the film, stating that “Spielberg and his very fine lead players…keep the individual parts moving smoothly, even during some lurching transitions.” CultureMap’s Alex Bentley was amazed that the nearly 80-year-old director “is still making blockbuster-style movies over 50 years after he made ‘Jaws.'” However, other reviewers haven’t been quite as high on the picture. The Detroit News’ Adam Graham wrote that Spielberg is “unable to bring them together here into a cohesive whole, and his “Disclosure Day” ends up coming across as a lot of hot air.” Rotten Tomatoes critics are the highest on the film, granting it an 82% certified fresh rating. Letterboxd reviewers seem the least enthusiastic, dishing out a 3.4/5 average score (68/100).
