The Fever are coming off another Caitlin Clark moment, while the Sky are still searching for answers. Chicago heads to Indiana on Thursday night as a 9.5-point underdogs, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. ET and the total sitting at 171.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Letโs get into it!
Sky vs. Fever Preview
Indiana hasn’t exactly been lighting up scoreboards lately. The Fever are averaging just 78.7 points per game over their last three contests, and Caitlin Clark is in the middle of one of the colder stretches of her season, averaging 13.0 points while shooting 24.5% from three over her last four games. The interesting part? They’re winning again. Clark delivered another signature moment Monday night, drilling a 31-foot game-winner against Washington, and Kelsey Mitchell continues to be the Fever’s most reliable scorer. She combined for 46 points against Atlanta and New York and has quietly become the stabilizing force for an offense that hasn’t always looked smooth.
The bigger story lately might be Indiana’s defense. The Fever are allowing just 76.7 points per game over their last three contests, the third-best mark in the league during that stretch. That’s a significant improvement for a team that spent much of the season trying to outscore its mistakes.
Chicago is dealing with a different problem. The Sky have lost six of their last seven games since Rickea Jackson went down with a torn ACL, and the offense still hasn’t recovered. They’re averaging just 80.2 points per game and rank near the bottom of the league in offensive rating. Skylar Diggins has shouldered most of the scoring responsibility, but there simply hasn’t been enough support around her.
Kamilla Cardoso remains a bright spot. She’s averaging 9.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, and her rim protection gives Chicago a chance to stay competitive defensively. But asking the defense to carry the entire load every night is a tough formula, especially against a Fever team that can get hot from deep in a hurry. That’s really what this matchup comes down to. Chicago has enough defense to keep things respectable, but Indiana has more ways to score and is playing much better basketball right now.
Sky vs. Fever Pick
The Sky continue to defend hard, but the offense hasn’t shown enough consistency since losing Rickea Jackson. Indiana isn’t playing its best basketball offensively, but the Fever have more firepower and enough defensive momentum to create separation.
Best Bet: Indiana Fever -9.5
