The PGA TOUR is making its annual trip to Canada for the RBC Canadian Open, which will be held this week at the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley’s North Course in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. The event tees off on Thursday, June 11, and will conclude on Sunday, June 14, barring any weather issues. It’s the final tournament on the PGA TOUR’s calendar before the third major of the season at next week’s U.S. Open.

The Format of the RBC Canadian Open
The RBC Canadian Open is a full-field event with 147 players in the field this year. All four rounds will be played on the North Course of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (more info on the course below). The field will have a standard 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties headed into the weekend.
The purse for the RBC Canadian Open will be $9.8 million U.S. dollars, with the winner claiming $1,764,000 USD and . This week’s winner will receive $4 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.
The history of the tournament
The Canadian Open began in 1904 and has happened each year aside from interruptions for World War I, World War II, and the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the second-oldest non-major championship, behind only the BMW Championship.
The Tournament has visited a wide variety of courses throughout its history, including Glen Abbey Golf Course 30 times, the Royal Montreal Golf Club, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, and Mississaugua Golf & Country Club. It arrived at its current home last year after an extensive course update at the North Course of TPC Toronto and will take place at this course again next year as well, with future plans after that uncertain.
Last year in the debut of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley’s North Course, Ryan Fox and Sam Burns needed four extra holes to decide the winner after each player ended up at -18 after four rounds. Fox made a birdie on the fifth extra hole to secure his second win of the 2025 PGA TOUR season.
He’s back to defend his title this week in a solid field of players looking to prepare for the U.S. Open and get some strong form rolling into Shinnecock Hills Golf Club next week. Four of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings will tee it up this week, led by Matt Fitzpatrick at No. 4, just ahead of Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood.

A Closer Look at the Course
The North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley was built to hold events like this week’s. The latest update created all the conveniences and amenities needed to a full-scale PGA TOUR event, and last year’s event got great reviews from players and fans.

It’s a par-70 with several difficult par 4s, where players will need to grind out pars. The two Par 5s are at the ends of the course at hole No. 1 and hole No. 18. With water and bunkers in play along the closing hole, a wide range of scores are in play that can swing a player’s round and could decide the tournament on Sunday. Another signature hole is the par 3 No. 14 which is transformed into “The Rink” For this week, allowing fans to get up close and join in on the action in a raucous environment.
Overall, the tight parkland course demands accuracy both off the tee and on approach since many proper bunkers present challenges all around the course. Last year’s results are the only course history that most players have at this venue, so those results and current form will be critical to consider as you assemble your picks and plays for this week.
Strokes Gained: Approach is always a strong metric to consider, but last year, the crowded leaderboard included players who had a wide range of skillsets. Strokes Gained: Par 4 and Birdie or Better% are two other metrics to pay close attention to this week. The event should be wide open and provide another exciting finish this week as players get ready for the U.S. Open.
