It’s hard to believe that the Knicks won both games in San Antonio with their star man Jalen Brunson shooting it as poorly as he has in this series. The volume is there for Brunson, shooting 31 times in Game 1 and 25 times in Game 2. The efficiency, however, is not. He went 12-31 from the field in the opener, followed by a 7-25 performance on Friday night. It’s hard to believe he will continue shooting around 33% as he has so far in this series. The Knicks will be back in front of their home crowd on Monday, and maybe that’s what he needs to get out of this slump. His numbers are way down from the regular season where he shot 46.7% from the field, and overall in this playoff run, he’s at 46.1%. Brunson went over this total in one game already this series, despite shooting as poorly as he has.

I like Jalen Brunson to record six or more assists in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. He fell short of this mark in Game 1, but responded in Game 2 with six dimes. In his last nine games during this playoff run, he has gone over this total seven times. Brunson averaged 6.8 assists per game during the regular season, and over the course of the playoffs he’s at 6.3. More often than not, the ball is in his hands. He contributes heavily offensively in every way, and I expect him to get his teammates involved in this one. In three regular season games against the Spurs, he went over this total each time, averaging 7.6 per game. If you combine the three regular season games with the opening two games of the finals, Brunson is averaging 6.2 assists per contest against San Antonio.
