Athletics vs. Milwaukee Brewers prediction, pick for MLB on Monday 6/08/26

The Brewers and Athletics meet Monday in one of the strangest run environments on the board. Milwaukee is 40-23, five games clear in the NL Central, and closing its road trip in Las Vegas after sweeping Colorado. The Brewers have gone 21-7 since May 8, reached 40 wins at the fastest pace in club history, and have taken seven of their last nine series with one split. The A’s are 31-34 and playing this set at Las Vegas Ballpark, their Triple-A affiliate’s open-air park. That matters immediately. First pitch brings extreme desert heat, strong wind risk, and none of the usual comfort of a controlled run environment. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Athletics and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Athletics vs. Brewers prediction, preview

Milwaukee’s offense enters with more than a Coors Field sugar high. The Brewers are 7-3 over their last 10, hitting .274/.370/.469 with an .838 OPS, 70 runs, 96 hits, 23 doubles, three triples, 13 homers, 68 RBI, 54 walks, 10 steals, and 39 extra-base hits. Sunday’s 12-4 win over Colorado showed the whole shape. Milwaukee had 17 hits, a season-high 10 extra-base hits, a seven-run sixth, a four-run ninth, and every starter reached the hit column. Jackson Chourio went 3-for-6 with two doubles. Andrew Vaughn had three hits and three runs. Garrett Mitchell added two doubles, a triple, two RBI, and two runs. Gary Sánchez homered for the first time since April.

That lineup length is why Milwaukee’s scoring profile travels. The Brewers rank near the bottom of MLB in homers, but they sit fifth in runs because they create pressure through walks, speed, contact, and extra-base depth. The recent lefty split fits Jeffrey Springs, too. Milwaukee has hit .292/.378/.415 with a .794 OPS over its last 10 games against left-handed pitching, with eight walks and only 10 strikeouts in 74 plate appearances. That matters more than a pure homer count in Las Vegas. If Chourio, Brice Turang, William Contreras, Sánchez, Vaughn, Luis Rengifo, Sal Frelick, Blake Perkins, and Joey Ortiz form the expected order, Milwaukee has enough right-handed and switch-hit pressure to make Springs work from traffic.

Springs is not a harmless matchup in a normal park, but this is a brutal assignment for his current shape. He enters 3-6 with a 4.37 ERA, 4.97 FIP, 60 strikeouts, and 70 innings. Oakland lost all five of his May starts, and his last outing against the Cubs lasted only 3.2 innings. He allowed four runs, seven hits, one walk, and three strikeouts in that start. Springs also allowed eight runs, six earned, across 7.1 innings in two previous starts against Milwaukee. His Statcast profile has some stabilizers, including 87.7 mph average exit velocity and a 36.3% hard-hit rate, but the .334 wOBA allowed and 9.4% barrel rate are uncomfortable in 90-plus-degree heat.

Brewers vs. Athletics pick, best bet

Kyle Harrison is the reason the full-game over is not the cleanest expression. He enters 7-1 with a 1.57 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 2.46 FIP, and 73 strikeouts across 57.1 innings. He just struck out 12 Giants over 5.2 innings of one-run ball, and Milwaukee’s development work has turned him into one of the best current starters in this matchup class. His batted-ball profile backs the breakout: 88.6 mph average exit velocity, 28.5% hard-hit rate, 5.1% barrel rate, .262 wOBA, and .280 xwOBA. Oakland can still punch back with Nick Kurtz, Brent Rooker, Shea Langeliers, Lawrence Butler, and Zack Gelof in this environment. That is exactly why a Brewers run line carries more backdoor risk than Milwaukee’s scoring does.

The cleaner market is Brewers team total over 6.5 at +110. Milwaukee’s moneyline and first-five moneyline are too short, Brewers -1.5 invites a late Vegas backdoor, and full-game over 11 asks the A’s to do too much against Harrison. The team total isolates the best parts of the handicap: Milwaukee’s 70-run, 39-extra-base-hit last-10 surge, Springs’ short-leash risk, Oakland’s vulnerable pitching depth, and the desert environment. Las Vegas is sitting in the mid-90s, with a high near 100 degrees and a Red Flag Warning for southwest winds gusting up to 40 mph. That is a miserable setting for command, defense, and tired relievers.

Best bet: Brewers team total over 6.5 (+110).

Brewers 8, Athletics 4.

Best bet: Brewers TT o6.5 runs (+110) vs. Athletics
