The 2026 Belmont Stakes is taking place tonight at 7:04 p.m. ET! This is the 158th Belmont Stakes and the third that will take place at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Belmont Stakes features nine horses and was previously won by Sovereignty in 2025. This race normally is at Belmont Park, but it is still under renovation.

King of the Track Pick: Golden Tempo 9/2
Although Golden Tempo is coming off nearly a five-week layoff, Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby on six weeks’ rest. Golden Tempo has three first-place finishes in five events. Although Golden Tempo is in the ninth post position, they were No. 19 in the Kentucky Derby.
Renegade was the runner-up at the 2026 Kentucky Derby and will once again be tough competition for Golden Tempo in the Belmont Stakes. After Golden Tempo’s elite finishing ability at the Kentucky Derby, he has all of the potential to do the same at the Belmont. Getting Golden Tempo at 9/2 is a good value play considering his upside.
