Pavel Dorofeyev anytime goal scorer (+205)
I used Dorofeyev as a top pick for this market ahead of Game 2, and while he fell short, I’m unafraid to run it back with him again. The shot volume and track record for the talented winger largely look great. His 46 shots on goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs still lead the Vegas roster and his 10 goals are second most of any Golden Knights skater. Now, Dorofeyev was really quiet in Game 2 with just one shot attempt, and he hasn’t scored even once in his last five games. Read that again though. He’s gone five games without scoring and led the team with 37 goals during the regular season. The guy is very good at putting the puck in the back of the net, so I’m very comfortable taking him to score on Carolina goaltender Frederik Andersen, who has allowed eight goals in two games of this series with a SV% of .869 since the beginning of the Eastern Conference Final. It’s simply betting on the Knights’ best finisher to do his job.
Taylor Hall anytime goal scorer (+295)
The most productive forward line for the Hurricanes in these playoffs has by far been the second unit of Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake. They’ve accounted for a ton of offense throughout the postseason and are the three highest scorers on the roster to this point, so let’s get in on the action with one of them in Game 3. Taylor Hall maintains the team lead in points with 16, potting five goals in 15 games. The winger has also tallied 43 shots on goal, third most of any skater on the Carolina roster. That’s an average of nearly three shots per game, which is exactly the kind of volume we like to see for this market. Hall put up just 18 goals in the regular season but has been on a tear in the playoffs, and he’s also yet to net one in two games of this series. On a pace of roughly a goal every three games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he makes for an excellent bet here at nearly +300 odds.
