Interview With the Vampire is still alive, still gorgeous, and still deeply unwell, but Season 3 is coming back under a new name: The Vampire Lestat.
The new season premieres Sunday, June 7, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+. That title change is the whole story. After two seasons spent inside Louis de Pointe du Lac’s memory, pain, romance, resentment, and carefully arranged version of events, the show is handing the microphone to Lestat de Lioncourt. Naturally, he does not want a normal interview. He wants a band, a tour, a stage, a mythology reset, and the full blast radius of his own ego.

The Vampire Lestat preview
The Vampire Lestat is not some disconnected spinoff wandering away from AMC’s Interview With the Vampire. It is the next season of the same series, retitled around the second Anne Rice novel in The Vampire Chronicles. Rice’s 1985 book flipped the perspective from Louis to Lestat, turning the beautiful monster from Interview into the narrator of his own long, lurid origin story. AMC is following that move with obvious relish.
The in-show logic is deliciously petty. Daniel Molloy published Interview With the Vampire. The book turned Louis’ account into public record. Lestat, who survived long enough to see himself written into someone else’s story, is not especially pleased with the characterization. His response is to become an immortal rock star and correct the record from the loudest possible platform.
Subtlety has never been Lestat’s gift.
Sam Reid returns as Lestat, and this is clearly built as his season. The earlier episodes made him seductive, terrifying, wounded, ridiculous, and often impossible to look away from. Now the show gets to make all of that textual. Lestat is not merely haunting the story from Louis’ version of the past. He is authoring his own spectacle in the present, with original music, a touring-band framework, and a much bigger supernatural world pressing in around him.
