Friday afternoon’s game between the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field has been delayed due to rain.
The game was originally scheduled for 1:20 p.m. CT as the Cubs opened a three-game weekend series against the Giants. Chicago enters the matchup at 33-30, while San Francisco comes in at 25-38.
Robbie Ray is scheduled to start for the Giants. The veteran left-hander enters Friday at 3-6 with a 4.45 ERA and 59 strikeouts. Ray last pitched Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field and remains San Francisco’s listed starter for the series opener.
Edward Cabrera is scheduled to start for the Cubs. The right-hander enters at 3-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 47 strikeouts. Cabrera was activated from the injured list Friday after missing time with a blister issue.
The Cubs’ posted lineup has Nico Hoerner leading off, followed by Pete Crow-Armstrong, Alex Bregman, Seiya Suzuki, Ian Happ, Carson Kelly, Michael Busch, Miguel Amaya, and Dansby Swanson. San Francisco’s posted lineup starts with Casey Schmitt, Rafael Devers, Luis Arraez, Willy Adames, Jung Hoo Lee, Bryce Eldridge, Matt Chapman, Daniel Susac, and Drew Gilbert.
A new first-pitch time will depend on conditions at Wrigley Field.
