With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look today?

Angels vs. Rays NRFI (-135)
For all their struggles this season, the Angels have formed a decent starting rotation this season. Reid Detmers is the latest success story out of Orange County. Through 63.0 innings of work, the southpaw has notched a 4.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 75 strikeouts (10.7 K/9). During his most recent appearance, the 26-year-old tossed eight innings of one-run ball against the Rangers. Since 2025, Detmers has delivered a stellar 82% NRFI rate. In comparison, the Rays are hitting much worse against left-handers (.695 OPS) than they are against righties (.740 OPS).
Tampa Bay will counter with former All-Star Drew Rasmussen. When healthy, the 30-year-old is among the American League’s top arms. That’s been the case yet again this season (2.78 ERA, 0.98 WHIP). When pitching at Tropicana Field, the veteran owns a phenomenal 81% NRFI rate. In comparison, Los Angeles’ offense is tied for the sixth-lowest YRFI rate on the road this season (20.0%). It’s difficult to imagine the light-hitting Halos getting to Rasmussen early tonight.
Diamondbacks vs. Mariners NRFI (-135)
Despite a shaky month of April, Ryne Nelson is one of Arizona’s most talented hurlers. The righty has bounced back over his last few starts, looking far more like his breakout 2025 campaign. During his previous five appearances, Nelson has allowed just nine earned runs (2.51 ERA). There’s a good chance his success continues tonight at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park. When playing at home, Seattle is putting up the tenth-fewest runs per game in baseball (4.13). Nelson has allowed a first inning run only twice over 11 outings so far (81.8% NRFI).
As for the Mariners, it’ll be staff ace Bryan Woo toeing the slab this evening. It’s been another solid year from the righty, looking for his second straight All-Star Game selection. Over 63.2 frames, he’s recorded a 3.82 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 59 strikeouts (8.3 K/9). In addition, he’s accounted for an 81.8% NRFI rate this season. In comparison, the Diamondbacks have produced a lackluster 20.0% YRFI rate on the road. That’s tied with the Angels for the sixth-lowest mark in the majors. Reversing that trend will be difficult on Saturday against one of the sport’s premier pitchers.
