Prediction, pick for Zhang Mingyang vs. Alonzo Menifield at UFC Macau

It’s going down at 205 pounds on Saturday, as rising Chinese prospect Zhang Mingyang faces American veteran Alonzo Menifield in the co-main event of UFC Macau.

Mingyang (19–7, 3–1 UFC) is coming off his first UFC loss — a second-round TKO against Johnny Walker in August 2025 — which snapped a 12-fight win streak, all by first-round finish. Menifield (17–6–1, 10–6–1 UFC) is looking to rebound from a first-round knockout at the hands of Volkan Oezdemir in November, his third stoppage defeat in his last five bouts.

Mingyang enters as a strong -258 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Menifield is a +210 underdog, with the total set at O/U 1.5 rounds.

Mingyang vs. Menifield Preview

Zhang Mingyang

Saturday night will present Zhang Mingyang with an age-old prospect test: bouncing back from his first UFC loss. In August 2025, the Chinese contender, 27, succumbed to low kicks against light heavyweight linchpin Johnny Walker en route to a second-round TKO in the main event of UFC Shanghai.

“Mountain Tiger” looks to brush off the setback and continue his dominant climb up the division ladder. Before the Walker loss, the thunderous striker had notched 12 consecutive victories dating back to January 2020, all by first-round stoppage — some in the same night. In June 2022, Mingyang became the first Chinese fighter to earn a contract on Road to UFC, swiftly making quick work of Tuco Tokkos. He later collected victories in each of his first three trips to the Octagon, punctuated by a pummeling of longtime veteran Anthony Smith in April 2025.

Mingyang heads into Saturday night with a 100% finish rate, comprising 13 knockouts and six submissions — all within the opening round. He’s also no stranger to Macau’s Galaxy Arena:

Alonzo Menifield (#15)

Alonzo Menifield seemingly put the light heavyweight division on notice in 2018, needing just eight seconds on Dana White’s Contender Series to shut the lights off on Dashawn Boatwright and earn a UFC contract. But nearly a decade later, the 38-year-old American is still struggling to establish a foothold at 205 pounds.

Known for his explosive power, “Atomic” Alonzo has scored 10 of his 17 professional wins by knockout (along with three submissions). However, the veteran striker hasn’t recorded a KO win since October 2022 — and has himself been put to sleep three times since. Coming off another first-round stoppage loss to Volkan Oezdemir in November, Menifield will now have to fend off a dangerous prospect to keep his spot in the division’s top 15.

Mingyang vs. Menifield Pick, Best Bet

Saturday’s co-main event pits an exciting rising prospect against a formidable but aging veteran. Mingyang is the younger, faster, and taller competitor, and he should showcase a clear striking edge from the opening bell. Expect him to test Menifield’s eroding chin and promptly return to the victory column.

Best Bet: Zhang Mingyang To Win And Under 1.5 Rounds (-145)
