Mitchell Robinson injury update: Is Robinson playing in the 2026 NBA Finals?

The Knicks’ luck seems to be running low as backup center Mitchell Robinson suffered a broken right pinky finger ahead of the 2026 NBA Finals. There isn’t a timetable for his return.

Robinson is an essential player in the Knicks’ rotation, subbing in for defensive purposes and giving Karl-Anthony Towns a breather. Towns is the better player, but there isn’t a significant drop off in team production when Robinson subs in. That’s incredibly important considering Towns is often in foul trouble.

The 2026 NBA Finals don’t begin until Wednesday, June 3, and the matchup isn’t even set yet. The Thunder and Spurs are playing Game 6 on Thursday, May 28 with a potential Game 7 matchup on Saturday, May 30.

Although there isn’t a timetable for Robinson’s return, he has just under a week until Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The series extends from June 3-19, giving additional time for Robinson to recover, if the series goes to seven games.

The Knicks are listed as underdogs for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against either the Thunder or Spurs. Below are the odds for both potential matchups, with Oklahoma City being a 6.5-point favorite and San Antonio being a 4.5-point favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook.
