The PGA TOUR continues its two-week stay in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, heading from TPC Craig Ranch to Colonial Country Club for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. The event was established 80 years ago as the Colonial National Invitational and has had a variety of sponsors through the years. This year’s edition of the Charles Schwab Challenge takes place from Thursday, May 28, to Sunday, May 31.
Unlike THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, which has been played at a variety of Dallas courses, the course itself organizes this event. As a result, the Colonial Country Club has hosted the event every year through its 80-year history, making it the longest-running non-major PGA TOUR event to be held at the same venue.
Defending champion Ben Griffin is in a field that is stronger than last week’s, but is missing Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Dallas’s own Jordan Spieth. Joining Griffin this week will be former major winners Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, and JJ Spaun. Other big names in the field include Ludvig Aberg, Akshay Bhatia, Robert MacIntyre, Rickie Fowler and Russell Henley.
