New York Mets over 4.5 runs (-125) vs. Washington Nationals
The box score shows that Littell shut out the Orioles in his last start through five innings. It was a painful game to watch, as someone who backed the Orioles team total against arguably one of the worst starters in the National League. But, if there was anything to take from that start, his xERA of 8.50 tells me he’s still the same Zack Littell we know. That’s why I’m taking the Mets to go over 4.5 runs with Littell on the mound tonight.
Home runs remain a massive issue for Littell, as his 3.05 HR/9 is the highest in the league. The Mets are hitting for a ton of power lately, with 12 home runs over the last week, which is the second-highest total in the league over that span. Littell’s only effective pitch to this point has been his slider. However, the Mets, dating back to last season, have hit sliders for a lot of pop with a team .178 ISO against it. With a bad bullpen behind him, I think the Mets put up some crooked numbers tonight.
Edmundo Sosa 2+ H/R/RBI (-124) vs. Cincinnati Reds
If I had to guess, this is probably the first time you’ve seen a prop written up for Edmundo Sosa. But, I think he’s in a great spot against the lefty Andrew Abbott this afternoon. Dating back to last season, Sosa has a .354 wOBA, a .170 ISO, and a 126 wRC+ in those matchups. He should also be hitting sixth in the lineup today, which should present some RBI opportunities. Abbott is a very heavy four-seam fastball user, throwing that pitch 43% of the time. When facing that pitch, Sosa owns a .383 wOBA and a .167 ISO since last season.

Carmen Mlodzinski under 16.5 outs recorded (-111) vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Mlodzinski is not someone who usually goes deep into games. He’s made seven starts and nine appearances overall and has logged at least 5.1 innings in four of them. In a starting role, he’s gone at least 5.1 innings in three of his seven starts. Mlodzinski simply throws a lot of pitches early, which hinders his chances of going deep. Tonight, he’ll face a Cardinals lineup that’ll take pitches and work the count. Their expected lineup has a combined 8.5% BB%, including five players with a 9% BB% or higher. Mlodzinski also has some very poor numbers against lefties with a .389 wOBA and an xFIP of 4.19. The Cardinals should feature at least four or five lefties in the lineup. I believe all these factors combined will spell an early night for the Pirates starter.
