The NHL Western Conference Final begins tonight as the Colorado Avalanche host the Vegas Golden Knights at 8 p.m. ET. This should be a fun series with plenty of star power, and with Cale Makar sidelined for the opener due to injury, there’s a chance that we could see an upset to start things off. MacKinnon, Marner, Necas and Eichel… let the games begin!

Best NHL player prop bets for Wednesday 5/20/26
Martin Necas over 0.5 assists (-140)
The Avalanche offense is incredible, and while they’ll be tested against this Golden Knights defense, they surely won’t be held totally in check. One of the driving forces behind Colorado’s scoring this postseason is Martin Necas, who hasn’t found his form in terms of putting the puck in the net himself but does have a team-best 10 assists to his name. The former Carolina Hurricane has been an excellent connective piece as a distributor and has at least one assist in six of his nine appearances so far in these Stanley Cup Playoffs. Especially with Makar sidelined, the Avs can and will rely more on other play drivers, so Necas is a great bet to record at least one assist tonight on a top forward line that has Nathan MacKinnon on it.
Jack Eichel 4+ shots on goal (+135)
Elsewhere on tonight’s betting card, I like Jack Eichel to record 4+ shots on goal. I know what you may be thinking — the guy hasn’t been able to put anything in the net this postseason — but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been active as a shooter. The Vegas star has just one goal but leads his team with 35 shots on goal. Now, the average may not look great for this prop, and I understand that a 5-for-12 hit rate also doesn’t spark a ton of confidence. However, Eichel has 4+ shots on goal in three of his last four games and may very well be getting frustrated with his lack of scoring. The Golden Knights will need every bit of scoring they can against this Avs offense, so I expect Eichel to come out aggressively and looking to make an early impact himself rather than primarily as a distributor. The plus odds make this a worthy selection.
