When Does The Boys Finale Drop on Prime Video?

After five full seasons of chaos, gore and raunchy humor, The Boys is coming to a close. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s adaptation of the cult classic comic book diverged from its source material long ago, so nobody really knows what’s in store for the series finale.

If you are ready to analyze every last moment of The Boys‘ sendoff, here is everything you need to know before Season 5 Episode 8 premieres:

When does The Boys Finale come out?

Season 5 Episode 8 will premiere on Prime Video at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 20. The episode, which is titled Blood and Bone, is expected to have a runtime around 1 hour 5 minutes. Amazon is also screening the episode in select 4DX theaters, with showtimes scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19. But considering there are only about 50 4DX theaters across the United States, most people will have to watch from home, per usual.

The fifth season, like the previous four, will consist of eight episodes, making this both the season and series finale.

(Warning: Spoilers for The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 ahead.)

Who will show up this episode?

Finally, it seems like The Boys is done expanding its sprawling ensemble cast. But for all of the massive character deaths in recent weeks, there are still a ton of remaining players who are likely to make an impact in the endgame. Maybe we’ll get a more thorough Gen V crossover, since only two of those characters popped up for a few minutes last week. Here is a look at who could be in the cast for Season 5 Episode 8:

  • Karl Urban as Billy Butcher
  • Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell Jr.
  • Antony Starr as Homelander
  • Erin Moriarty as Annie January a.k.a. Starlight
  • Laz Alonso as Marvin T. Milk a.k.a. Mother’s Milk
  • Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro
  • Jensen Ackles as Ben a.k.a. Soldier Boy
  • Chace Crawford as Kevin Kohler a.k.a. The Deep
  • Susan Heyward as Jessica Bradley a.k.a. Sister Sage
  • Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett
  • Daveed Diggs as Oh Father
  • Giancarlo Esposito as Stan Edgar
  • Cameron Crovetti as Ryan Butcher
  • Olivia Morandin as Zoe Neuman
  • Omid Abtahi as Dr. Sameer Shah
  • Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau
  • London Thor as Jordan Li (Female)
  • Derek Luh as Jordan Li (Male)
  • Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer a.k.a. Little Cricket
  • Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap
  • Asa Germann as Sam Riordan
  • Keeya King as Annabeth Moreau

What to expect in The Boys Season 5 Episode 8

Eric Kripke and Antony Starr weren’t messing around when they teased major deaths this season. A-Train, Firecracker, Black Noir and Frenchie are all gone, as are President Calhoun, Sheline, Dogknott, Maverick, Cindy, Mr. Marathon, Malchemical and many more side characters. That being said, there are probably a few more fatal endings on the docket for the finale.

If Frenchie was telling the truth to Homelander before he died and Sage’s calculations were correct, then Kimiko now has Soldier Boy’s disempowerment blast powers following multiple rounds of nuclear exposure. With Soldier Boy himself back in cryosleep, that leaves Kimiko as the Boys’ best option at taking down Homelander. There’s also Marie Moreau, who can manipulate blood, explode heads and heal fatal injuries, but Starlight might have sidelined her to watch over the fugitives they saved from Vought Studios.

Ashley is now the President of the United States, tasked with implementing all of Homelander’s wishes, such as disbanding Congress and making his Democratic Church of America the country’s official religion. On top of having the virus-resistant V-One in his system, Homelander is also as egomaniacal and power-hungry as ever. He even disbanded The Seven, which was just down to him and The Deep anyways. The Deep also isn’t able to go in water anymore, either, since every creature in the ocean is eager to kill him for his role in the Alaskan oil spill.

Homelander has no shortage of enemies heading into the finale, with Butcher and the Boys obviously towards the top of that list. Ryan and Stan Edgar are still out there, though, with Ashley and Sage plotting against him too. Homelander does have Oh Father and an army of psychics on his side, though, who are trying to convince the world that he is the one and only god. Their impending sermon could very well be the stage for the final showdown between Homelander, the Boys, Ryan, the Guardians of Godolkin or any other characters who decide to show up.
