Detroit Pistons Moneyline (+140)
The Detroit Pistons have looked like the clear better team all season and in this series compared to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It took a throwback performance from James Harden down the stretch for the Cavaliers to come out victorious. Considering how impactful the Pistons’ defense has looked, with their athletic and size advantage a factor, it feels unlikely this will happen again. Even during the Game 3 loss, the Pistons kept the game within striking distance throughout. It was a tied game with just remaining with 4:57 left to play and a two-point contest with 50.2 seconds remaining. Cleveland shot 58.1% from the field, which is not only the worst mark that Detroit has allowed in the postseason but also worse than any opponent’s shooting percentage they have allowed all season. Cleveland deserves credit for playing with the necessary level of desperation, but it did not feel like a replicable formula. Back the Pistons to cement themselves as the clearly better team once again and produce the Game 4 win.
Donovan Mitchell to Record 25+ Points (-194)
The James Harden addition changed the calculus a bit, but Donovan Mitchell still headlines the attack for the Cavaliers. Mitchell set the tone in Game 3, cruising to a 35-point performance after scoring 31 in Game 2 and 23 in the series opener. He is averaging 25.1 points per game in the postseason after scoring 27.9 points per game across the regular season. The standard scoring prop for Mitchell is set at 27.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. He has a bit more ups-and-downs in his scoring production than is typically the case for a team’s star player, but Mitchell possesses a bit more spirit and competitiveness than some of the other key members of this Cavaliers team. Expect him to approach tonight’s matchup with the same level of desperation as they fight to avoid the 3-1 series hole and for 25 points to be a comfortable bar to clear.
Ausar Thompson to Record 15+ Points & Rebounds (-202)
It has been an excellent start to the playoffs for Ausar Thompson. After averaging 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game across the regular season, the 23-year-old is producing 9.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in the playoffs. Through the first three games in this series, Thompson has tallied combined points and rebound totals of 19, 17, and 16. While I still like the over for this prop tonight, knocking it down to 15 is an even better outlook. Thompson has tallied 15+ points and rebounds in 8 of the 10 playoff games thus far. The level of athleticism and energy he possesses has popped in this series, and the reigning steal champ has done an excellent job relocating as a cutter to create offensive chances. Count on him continuing to see a high workload and tally 15+ points and rebounds for the fourth straight matchup against the Cavaliers.
