The under looks enticing, as well, as I expect both defenses to tighten up a bit after a Game 1 that featured 15 combined goals. However, I’m still trusting an Avalanche team that went 26-9-6 at home during the regular season, good for the third-best home record in the NHL. Colorado has won each of its last eight games, dating back to the third-to-last regular-season game, and finally unleashed its full offensive power in Game 1. If it remains a 5v5 battle as in Game 1, I would feel even better about this, considering the Avalanche were by far the most efficient 5v5 team during the regular season.
Lehkonen ranks third on the team in points this postseason, behind only Nathan MacKinnon and Devon Toews. He has notched two multi-point games in his past three meetings, and he ranks fourth among Avalanche forwards in total ice time. As I mentioned above, I am expecting a lower-scoring affair this time around, but these offenses are still quite electric and more than capable of exploding at any moment. Colorado only totaled two power play opportunities in Game 1, but Lekohnen plays with the second unit and could see additional chances to notch a point there. It also helps that he shares the first line with MacKinnon and Martin Necas, two potent playmakers.
Boldy missed the mark for the first time this postseason, but he still totaled seven shot attempts. This postseason, he ranks first in shots on goal per game and third in shot attempts per game, and Minnesota will need his offensive aggression to continue to keep up with Colorado. Boldy has netted six goals in seven games this postseason and netted two goals in a regular-season matchup against the Avalanche on Feb. 26. If he wants to continue to score goals, he’ll have to shoot the puck often. Boldy has cleared 4+ SOG in four of his previous six meetings against Colorado, while averaging 8.0 shot attempts per game.
