Who’s Joining Tonight’s Episode?
Jan Ravnik, Rylee Arnold, Gleb Savchenko and Witney Carson will perform alongside the Top 5 tonight in the first ever Dancing With The Stars X American Idol crossover episode!
In a Class of 2006 reunion special, Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin, Kellie Pickler, Paris Bennett and Bucky Covington will also perform duets with the Top 5 as they battle to move on to the finale.
Keyla Richardson: River Deep – Mountain High by Ike & Tina Turner
It took only a few moments for Keyla to pick up where she left off last week, boasting those impressively powerful vocals. It helped having the Dancing With The Stars pros backing her up, but this was her best work as an actual performer thus far. It was a strong start as she makes her case for a spot in the finale.
Grade: A-
Chris Tungseth: Northern Attitude by Noah Kahan
Chris has consistently zagged where others have zigged this season, and he went back to that strategy with his first song tonight. I was a little concerned about Northern Attitude’s tempo when it was announced as his choice, but he picked it up when possible and really showed off during the high notes.
Grade: A-
Braden Rumfelt: Lose Control by Teddy Swims
Braden surprised a lot of people with two fantastic performances last week to advance to the Top 5. His first performance wasn’t quite as strong as those numbers, but an extremely strong finish earns him an A-.

Hannah Harper: Fever by Peggy Lee
This was the most unique performance of the night thus far, letting Hannah and the Dancing With The Stars pros both shine. Hannah’s elite inflection was on display all throughout the number. She took a bit of a risk with this choice and it paid off in a huge way.
Grade: A
Jordan McCullough: Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis
Jordan has been my frontrunner the entire season, but he took a bit of a step backwards last week. That was NOT the case in his first number of the night. At his best, Jordan is capable of hitting a level the other contestants simply can’t reach. He earned a standing ovation from the judges and the first A+ of the night.
Grade: A+
Keyla Richardson and Taylor Hicks: Living For The City by Stevie Wonder
For her second performance of the night, Keyla was joined by the Season 5 winner, and it’s clear Taylor hasn’t lost a step since 2006. Between the two, the vibes were immaculate. My one complaint is that Keyla didn’t get to challenge herself as much as we’ve gotten used to over the last few weeks. Also, shoutout to Taylor’s harmonica.
Grade: B+
Chris Tungseth and Bucky Covington: The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks
First of all, this was certainly the best hair combination we’ll ever see on an American Idol duet. Unfortunately for Chris, this felt much more like Bucky’s performance than his. While he did deliver a strong verse near the end to turn the audience’s attention back to him, I came away from this song wanting much more.
Grade: B
Braden Rumfelt and Paris Bennett: The Show Must Go On by Queen
It was always going to be an uphill battle singing alongside a voice as unique as Paris’, but Braden more than held his own! Watching his confidence soar over the last few episodes has been extremely impressive. This was the best duet of the night so far by a sizable margin. Could Braden be finale bound? This performance will certainly help his case…

Hannah Harper and Kellie Pickler: A Broken Wing by Martina McBride
All you had to see was this pairing on paper to know they would deliver a stellar country number. Hannah specifically set out to challenge herself with this song, and she delivered yet again. Starting in a low register and then flourishing in her second verse, the budding country star continued her impressive night with a very powerful performance.
Grade: A
Jordan McCullough and Elliott Yamin: A Song for You by Donny Hathaway
When they announced duets for this episode, I wondered if they could find a voice powerful enough to match Jordan’s. Then I remembered that Elliott Yamin exists. Together, they put on an unbelievably electric performance. Run after run after run, back and forth. It’s yet to be seen if America will ultimately agree, but Jordan McCullough is a generational talent.
Grade: A+
