MLB Probable Pitchers Today: Full Starting Pitcher Matchups for May 5, 2026

Tuesday’s slate features a full schedule of games, highlighted by Jacob deGrom continuing his dominant run for Texas, Kevin Gausman looking to rebound after his last outing, and Sandy Alcantara anchoring a strong matchup for Miami.

Athletics vs. Philadelphia Phillies Probable Pitchers

  • Athletics: Luis Severino
  • Philadelphia Phillies: Cristopher Sanchez
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Severino’s command has improved lately, walking only three hitters over his last 13.2 innings. However, his BB/9 still stands at 5.4 for the season. Sanchez bounced back well after a nightmare start against the Cubs. In his last start against the Giants, he allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Miami Marlins Probable Pitchers

  • Baltimore Orioles: Chris Bassitt
  • Miami Marlins: Sandy Alcantara
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Bassitt has been extremely inconsistent to this point and owns a 5.46 ERA with an xERA of 5.18 and a 5.15 FIP. Alcantara has thrown at least five innings in all seven of his starts this season.

Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers Probable Pitchers

  • Boston Red Sox: Brayan Bello
  • Detroit Tigers: Framber Valdez
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Bello has been getting tormented on the mound lately, allowing 16 runs on 24 hits through his last 11 innings. Valdez held the Red Sox to one run on three hits through six innings two weeks ago.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays Probable Pitchers

  • Toronto Blue Jays: Kevin Gausman
  • Tampa Bay Rays: Drew Rasmussen
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Gausman turned in his worst start of the season, his last time out, allowing four runs on four hits through 5.2 innings against the Twins. Rasmussen hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in five of his six starts.

Minnesota Twins vs. Washington Nationals Probable Pitchers

  • Minnesota Twins: Taj Bradley
  • Washington Nationals: Cade Cavalli
  • Time: 6:45 PM ET

Bradley has struck out at least seven hitters in four of his seven starts this season. Cavalli has been racking up strikeouts himself, whiffing 10 in back-to-back starts against the Mets and Braves.

Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees Probable Pitchers

  • Texas Rangers: Jacob deGrom
  • New York Yankees: Elmer Rodriguez
  • Time: 7:05 PM ET

deGrom continues to pitch like his old self, posting a 2.01 ERA with an xERA of 3.21 and an 11.4 K/9. Rodriguez will be making his second major league start against the Rangers. In his first outing, he tossed four innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs Probable Pitchers

  • Cincinnati Reds: Andrew Abbott
  • Chicago Cubs: Jameson Taillon
  • Time: 7:40 PM ET

Abbott turned in a solid start against the Rockies his last time out, allowing two runs on five hits through six innings. Taillon has allowed at least one home run in five straight starts.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Kansas City Royals Probable Pitchers

  • Cleveland Guardians: Gavin Williams
  • Kansas City Royals: Noah Cameron
  • Time: 7:40 PM ET

Williams has been one of the best starters for the Guardians, posting a 2.70 ERA with an xERA of 3.85 and a K/9 of 11. Cameron has been the opposite for the Royals, posting a 5.40 ERA with an xERA of 6.33.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals Probable Pitchers

  • Milwaukee Brewers: Brandon Sproat
  • St. Louis Cardinals: Andre Pallante
  • Time: 7:45 PM ET

Sproat has allowed at least three runs in three of the four games he’s started. Pallante’s 4.1 BB/9 is currently the highest of his career.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros Probable Pitchers

  • Los Angeles Dodgers: Shohei Ohtani
  • Houston Astros: Peter Lambert
  • Time: 8:10 PM ET

Ohtani has allowed two earned runs through five starts, spanning 30 innings. Lambert has only made three starts, but has seen a big uptick in his strikeouts. He’s whiffed 19 through 15.1 innings, giving him an 11.1 K/9.

New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies Probable Pitchers

  • New York Mets: Freddy Peralta
  • Colorado Rockies: Michael Lorenzen
  • Time: 8:40 PM ET

Peralta allowed two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts through 5.2 innings in his start against the Rockies two weeks ago. Lorenzen pitched a gem not long ago against the Mets, allowing just one run on seven hits through seven innings.

Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels Probable Pitchers

  • Chicago White Sox: Erick Fedde
  • Los Angeles Angels: TBD
  • Time: 9:38 PM ET

Fedde continues to be efficient on the mound, posting a 3.24 ERA with an xERA of 3.33.

Atlanta Braves vs. Seattle Mariners Probable Pitchers

  • Atlanta Braves: Bryce Elder
  • Seattle Mariners: George Kirby
  • Time: 9:40 PM ET

Elder has allowed no more than one run in four of his seven starts this season. After a tough start to the season, Kirby hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in four straight starts.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Probable Pitchers

  • Pittsburgh Pirates: Bubba Chandler
  • Arizona Diamondbacks: Eduardo Rodríguez
  • Time: 9:40 PM ET

Chandler has been struggling with his command, logging a 6.2 BB/9 through 29 innings of work. Rodriguez is due for some regression, as his 3.30 ERA isn’t close to his 5.04 xERA and a 4.86 FIP.
