DraftKings has a new promotion this May. It’s the MLB Grand Slam Payout.
The concept is simple. Opt-in and get a MLB Grand Slam Payout token. Use that token on a single wager or for a parlay on a player to hit a home run, and if that home runs ends up being a grand slam, receive a share of $250,000 in bonus bets — or more!
That begs the question: Who is hitting a grand slam tonight? Well, as always, I have my predictions and my leans. Let’s break a couple picks down.
MLB Grand Slam Payout Picks
Ben Rice, Yankees
My two picks yesterday didn’t hit a grand slam, but each one did deliver a home run. Their teammates just didn’t cooperate by loading the bases in front of them. On Sunday, one of the most favorable home run environments on the board will be at Yankee Stadium, where the wind will be blowing out to right field at almost 20 mph. The Orioles are expected to call up rookie Trey Gibson for his MLB debut in this tough spot, and since he’s a righty, we’ll hopefully get Ben Rice in the lineup. In Triple-A this year, Gibson is 2-2 with a 4.01 ERA and 4.50 FIP, but his 1.62 WHIP continues a trend of plenty of traffic on the bases against him. He had a 1.81 WHIP in his seven starts at Triple-A last year, and in those 13 Triple-A starts, he has allowed eight home runs and a hard-hit rate over 40% each season.
Rice has 11 homers on the year in his 32 games, with seven of those coming at home, where he has a .494 wOBA and .458 ISO. The 27-year-old lefty has an excellent 59.2% hard-hit rate and 19.7% barrel rate. For the sake of these grand slam props, it would be better if he hits fourth or fifth than second, but if he gets a chance with the bases loaded, he has a shot of delivering our first grand slam of the month.
Junior Caminero, Rays
The Rays are looking to close out a sweep of the Giants at Tropicana Field on Sunday afternoon after winning 3-0 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday. They’ll take on righty Tyler Mahle in the series finale, and Mahle has been a great matchup to attack, especially on the road. In his six starts overall, he is 1-4 with a 5.87 ERA, 5.46 FIP and 1.63 WHIP, while serving up six homers. On the road, he has a 13.00 ERA, 9.59 FIP and 2.44 WHIP. While some of that is due to the small sample size (only nine innings), he has definitely been hittable on the road, giving up a .389 average and .528 wOBA. Righties have been doing most of the damage off him this season, with five of his six homers allowed, even though they have less than half the plate appearances against him. Righties have a .475 wOBA against him on the year and a .668 wOBA and 1.000 SLG against him on the road.
Junior Caminero brings elite power potential from the right side and has nine homers in his 32 games this season. He has five of those homers in his 14 games at home, and seven of them have come against righties like Mahle. Caminero has a 50% hard-hit rate over his last 16 games with seven barrels and a 13.5% barrel rate. He homered on Friday to start the series but went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts and a single on Saturday. Caminero has the splits all leaning his way against Mahle, and if the Rays give him a chance with the sacks packed, he could be the one to smash the first grand slam of the month.

- Place a Single, Parlay, or SGP bet on a player to hit a home run and if their home run is a grand slam, receive a share of $250,000 in Bonus Bets! (minimum $5 bet, maximum three legs for a parlay)
- If the player in your qualifying bet hits a grand slam you’ll win a share of $250,000 in Bonus Bets.
- If no grand slams are hit, the bonus prize pool will carry over to the next day the Promotion is offered.
