Glaser, the iconic comedian and Taylor Swift superfan, joined the show this week as a guest judge!
Jordan McCullough: Tim McGraw
The top contestant so far on this season of American Idol opened Monday’s episode with another fantastic performance, delivering a showstopping rendition of Taylor Swift’s Tim McGraw. The only reason I’m taking McCullough down from his typical A+/A range to an A- is because this song didn’t particularly challenge him.
Grade: A-
Chris Tungseth: Exile
After delivering the most ambitious song of the week on Disney Night, Tungseth took a more direct approach to this classic Swift number. A tantalizing run in the middle of the performance along with a rare combination of subtlety and energy made this one of his best outings yet.
Grade: A-
Hannah Harper: Mean
This week was tailor-made (pun intended) for Harper, who had her pick of Swift’s country discography. While Hannah didn’t test the vocals as much as possible, she captivated the entire audience from start to finish. This episode has opened with three strong performances, but this was the best thus far.
Grade: A
Brooks Rosser: Love Story
I wanted to absolutely love this, but Brooks seemed a bit sped up or lacking confidence at times. His voice is stellar, which earned him a B+, but there’s another level Rosser is capable of hitting.
Grade: B+
Daniel Stallworth: Fearless
Stallworth did what he does best, bringing the energy out of the gates. High fiving fans and circling the judges while boasting run after run, Stallworth finished strong and earned a standing ovation from Nikki Glaser and company. Daniel may not have the best voice out of the current field, but he’s the strongest entertainer.
Grade: A-
Keyla Richardson: Lover
Keyla has come out a bit quiet in past performances, but that absolutely wasn’t the case this time around. Her impressively powerful vocals popped immediately and never relented. Add this fantastic outing to her resume as she continues to emerge as a legitimate contender.

Braden Rumfelt: cardigan
Braden was on the fringe of elimination last week, and props to him, because he bounced back in a huge way. Perhaps the last few performances simply haven’t been up his alley, but this one was, as Rumfelt commanded the stage and delivered his best song of the season.
Grade: A-
Brooks Rosser: She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5
Coming off the weakest performance of Round 1, it’s safe to say Brooks needed a strong second number. Luckily, he delivered. She Will Be Loved is the perfect choice for Rosser’s unique voice. He was much more confident with the vocals and tempo, coming through with an elite second song.
Grade: A
Jordan McCullough: I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt
Jordan was solid in Round 1, but we all know he’s capable of much more. His immaculate range was immediately on full display in his second performance. At the top of his game, McCullough reaches another level that his competition isn’t able to match.
Grade: A+
Daniel Stallworth: Best Part by H.E.R.
Daniel was born to sing this song. It took approximately one note to confirm that. The falsetto run at the end got everyone out of their seats, capping off his very strong night.
Grade: A
Braden Rumfelt: This Love by Maroon 5
After dishing out his best performance of the season in Round 1, Rumfelt’s newfound confidence carried over into another song that suited his voice very well. I genuinely did not expect this kind of night from Braden, as he one-upped his prior outing. He certainly has done enough to stay if America gives him the necessary votes.
Grade: A
Chris Tungseth: What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish
Chris took a chance and slowed things down for the first time tonight. The Billie Eilish classic was an unexpectedly strong fit for Tungseth, as he continues to put his stamp on these songs and make them his own. It was an extremely emotional, sincere performance.
Grade: A-
Hannah Harper: That’s the Way Love Goes by Merle Haggard
Hannah followed up arguably the best performance of Round 1 with a more soft-spoken rendition of Merle Haggard’s That’s the Way Love Goes. This performance wrapped the audience in a warm blanket, as her voice has all the makings of a future country titan.
Grade: A-
Keyla Richardson: I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James
With every passing performance, you can see Keyla believe in herself and push the boundaries more and more. Her version of this 1968 classic was electric from start to finish, getting everyone in the building out of their chairs for a standing ovation.
Grade: A+
