Following the team-based Zurich Classic, the PGA TOUR season continues this week with the Cadillac Championship — the fifth of eight Signature Events this season. There will be 72 golfers competing for a $20 million purse, with no cut. The Cadillac Championship will be played at the Blue Monster Course (par 72, 7,739 yards, Bermuda greens) of Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. This venue hosted the WGC-Cadillac Championship from 2007 to 2016; the last event was won by Adam Scott (-12) by one stroke.
The Blue Monster is a long, challenging course that features wide fairways and large greens, but also thick rough, over 100 bunkers, and water hazards on 10 holes. Being a long and efficient driver is an advantage at the course, as the last two players to win the Cadillac Championship finished the event in the top 12 in both SG OTT and driving distance. Even more so, being dialed with your irons is a must at the Blue Monster. Scott led his field in SG APP when he won this par-72 in 2016, and three of the last four winners at the Blue Monster have led their fields in the metric. The par fours are very difficult at this venue, so taking advantage of the scoring opportunities the par fives present is crucial. Of the past five Cadillac Championship winners at this track, three finished the event in the top three in par five scoring, with Scott notably leading his field in 2016.

Gary Woodland ($7,400) — Woodland hasn’t finished worse than T29th in three starts at the Blue Monster, and he returns to the venue playing excellent golf. In his last four starts, the former U.S. Open champion has finished T14th, first, T33rd and T8th. That win came at the Houston Open last month, when he won by a convincing five shots. Plus, the T8th finish in Woodland’s last start came last month at the RBC Heritage — another Signature Event.
Woodland has been one of the best drivers on the PGA TOUR this season, ranking second in driving distance and 13th in SG OTT. He should thrive at the long Blue Monster, possibly with a career-best showing at the venue.
Pierceson Coody ($7,300) — Coody has been awesome in 2026. Excluding his withdrawal from the Houston Open, Coody has made 9-of-11 cuts with six top-20 finishes. The former Texas Longhorn’s best finish of the season came at the Farmers Insurance Open at the South Course of Torrey Pines, the longest course on the annual PGA TOUR schedule.
Coody has the tools to flourish at long venues, and he’s well-positioned for a strong debut at the drawn-out Blue Monster this week. Coody is an outstanding driver who ranks in the top 30 in both SG OTT and driving distance this season. Additionally, the 26-year-old ranks 25th in SG APP and 31st in par-five performance.
Alex Smalley ($7,100) — While Smalley isn’t a bomber, the 29-year-old is in terrific form and difficult to ignore at this cheap salary. Smalley just finished runner-up at the Zurich Classic last week with Hayden Springer as his partner. Individually, Smalley has made seven consecutive cuts, with four top-25 finishes during that stretch.
Smalley has gained strokes on approach at every event during this seven-made-cut surge, and he has shot under par in seven of his past eight rounds. Smalley ranks 10th in SGT2G when we compare this field’s past 24 rounds, bringing top-20 upside this week.
