Wembanyama ($11,500) has cleared concussion protocol and will play in Sunday’s Game 4 vs. the Trail Blazers, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
After scoring 35 points in his playoff debut in the Game 1 win for the Spurs, Wembanyama suffered the concussion 11 minutes into Game 2, which ended up being a 106-103 loss for San Antonio. Then, he missed Game 3, but the Spurs bounced back with a 120-108 win that night, giving San Antonio a 2-1 series lead over Portland.
Wembanyama was just crowned Defensive Player of the Year last week and he is one of the three finalists for MVP. The big man was incredible in the regular season, averaging 25 points, 11.5 rebounds and a league-high 3.1 blocks per game.
Wembanyama leads the Spurs with a 34.2% usage rate and his return will hurt the roles of all his teammates. Also, Luke Kornet ($4,500), who posted a 14-point and 10-rebound double-double as Wembanyama’s replacement starter in Game 3, will move back to the bench for Game 4 with Wembanyama returning.
With Wembanyama back, the Spurs have moved to a 6.5-point favorite over the Trail Blazers for Game 4 on DraftKings Sportsbook, after opening as a 5.5-point favorite.
