The Titans pieced together back-to-back 3-14 seasons, and now look toward the 2026 NFL Draft to rebuild the roster. They selected Cam Ward with the first overall pick last year, solidifying their franchise quarterback, but now it’s time to fill in the gaps around him.
Ward’s rookie season was underwhelming, but there were promising moments. He completed 59.8% of his passes for 3,169 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. While he wasn’t perfect, he also struggled due to a weak offensive line. Ward led the league with 55 sacks, 410 yards lost due to sacks, and 11 fumbles.
Tennessee hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2021 season, and it’s listed at +290 to reach the postseason on DraftKings Sportsbook. Barring a breakout season from Ward or a rookie, the Titans are expected to miss the playoffs. That being said, every draft pick is important as the franchise looks to be competitive in the coming seasons.

Tennessee Titans Team Needs
What don’t the Titans need? OK maybe that’s a bit harsh because the front office shelled out some serious cash during free agency. Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers, and corners Alontae Taylor and Cor’Dale Flott all fill needs prior to the draft. That said, these players aren’t sealing all the gaps.
Tennessee still needs to add an edge rusher, which could be targeted as early as the fourth overall pick. Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson are quality defensive ends, but there’s room for improvement. Assuming the Raiders draft Fernando Mendoza first overall, the Titans may get a chance at one of the top two edge rushers. David Bailey and Arvell Reese are highly-coveted, so it’s possible neither are available. Inside linebacker Sonny Styles could be the best defensive player available and would fill another need in the middle of the field. Whoever is selected can beef up Tennessee’s front seven in 2026.
Although the Titans have a handful of wide receivers, there isn’t a true top option yet. Robinson, Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike and Calvin Ridley make up a mediocre staff. Players like Carnell Tate and Jordyn Tyson will be available, but it’s more likely the Titans draft running back Jeremiyah Love. Between Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, this creates a busy backfield, but drafting the best available is often the correct play. Regardless, is won’t hurt to give Ward more weapons.
Lastly, offensive line is in need of a major upgrade. Ward led the league in sacks, yards lost due to sacks, and fumbles. Protecting the franchise player should be the top priority. Whether the front office addresses this need in the first round will be determined.
