The Western Conference playoffs are set with the Phoenix Suns earning the No. 8 seed. As a reward, they will play the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Thunder entered the season as favorites to repeat and finished the regular season with an NBA-best 64-18 record. This happened despite numerous injuries to key players including Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein. At full strength, it’ll be difficult for any team to slow Oklahoma City down.
The Suns traded away Kevin Durant in the offseason, yet they’re still in the playoffs. That’s an impressive feat as the Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks core gelled this season. A 45-37 record is good, but it’s also nearly 20 games worse than the Thunder. Phoenix is in for a major challenge.
