Three hours in, and the blood is already flowing in The Boys. Following last week’s massive premiere, episode three kept the action going in a major way. As always, Amazon Prime’s hit series keeps its fans on their toes. On any given day, characters you care about could get axed.
Let’s break down every major death and plot development for season five’s third episode, titled “Every One of You Sons of Bitches”.

Who died in The Boys Season 5 Episode 3?
Soldier Boy looked like a goner at the end of last week’s episode. However, the grizzled veteran proved to have natural immunity against the Godolkin virus. That was due to the presence of V1 in his bloodstream, an earlier version of Compound V. As a result, Homelander and The Seven (along with The Boys) now know that there’s an antidote to Butcher’s bio-weapon.
In addition to welcoming him back, Homelander revealed to the press that Soldier Boy is his father. It’s an announcement that took just about everyone, even close ally Sister Sage, by surprise. Clouded by delusions of grandeur and a desire for immortality, Homelander’s already thin grip on reality is slipping even further.
As for The Boys, their new mission is to destroy any V1 before Homelander finds it. That means linking back up with old ‘friend’ Stan Edgar, the former CEO of Vought. He’s hiding out in a compound with the children of two slain Supes. Zoe Neuman, daughter of former Vice President Victoria Neuman, and Maverick, son of Translucent, both had their parents killed at the hands of Butcher and company. However, the latter has been told it was Homelander that murdered his dad.
Speaking of Butcher, he managed to reach out to Ryan. Despite the traumatic events of Season 4, the two appear to have come to an agreement to take down Homelander, who also happens to be the latter’s father. However, Ryan is chomping at the bit to take out his old man, something even Butcher warns against. Unfortunately, the former ends up traveling to New York, confronting Homelander about taking advantage of his mother as well. Despite some reluctance, Homelander ends up beating his son nearly to death. When Butcher finds him, Ryan is barely breathing.
Back at the compound, Black Noir and Deep manage to locate The Boys. In fact, the latter ends up knocking out best friend Noir and capturing Stan Edgar for himself. To boot, Deep reveals to Maverick that it was The Boys, not Homelander, who killed his dad. That leads to a fight between Hughie and Maverick, who is killed accidentally by Cindy, a telekinetic Supe that was attempting to take out Hughie. Almost immediately, Annie ends up killing Cindy to defend her boyfriend.
What to expect in The Boys Season 5 moving forward
As previously mentioned, Homelander’s delusions are becoming even harder to ignore. The line between reality and the dream world have become completely blurred for the leader of The Seven. In addition to The Boys, he’s managed to make an enemy out of his own father in Soldier Boy. Plans to simply eliminate those that don’t support him are chilling to say the least as well.
On the other hand, The Boys are more fractured than ever. Annie, out of a desire to protect those closest to her, has left. That leaves the team with even less firepower than before. At this point, it feels like a race against time for Butcher to release the virus before Homelander finds more V1. Should that happen, the Supe would become virtually indestructible.
