The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Orlando Magic tonight at 7:30 PM EST. The winner of this matchup will advance to the NBA Playoffs as the seventh seed, while the loser will have another shot to keep their playoff dreams alive for the eighth seed.

Jalen Suggs 2+ Steals (-101)
Suggs has always been capable of some monster steal numbers, averaging 2 SPG per 36 minutes over the course of his entire NBA career. This season he’s been even more of a pest than usual, ripping away 2.4 steals per 36 minutes. He’s averaging 1.8 SPG this season and is instrumental to Orlando’s perimeter defense. The Sixers have also been careless with the ball, with 15.4 turnovers per game, which is the ninth worst mark in the NBA. Even though the Sixers are favored tonight, they need many things to go right if they want to weather the storm in Joel Embiid’s absence, which includes cleaning up a bit in the turnovers department.
Tyrese Maxey 25+ Points (-335)
It’s difficult to get a pulse on Tyrese Maxey tonight, who’s having an outstanding season by most metrics. Actually, maybe the better way to adequately phrase this would be to say that it’s difficult to get a pulse on the Orlando Magic defense, who were superb last season with a 109.1 DEFRTG but only average this season with 113.6. And their end-of-season trend has been confusing as well, with a poor 116.9 DEFRTG in their last 15 games but a stellar 110 DEFRTG in their last seven.
Despite his inconsistent this Magic defense seems to be, there’s one thing we can count on: Tyrese Maxey’s volume. While he may not get to his usual season average, 25+ seems like a lock.
Race to 4 Three Pointers – No Player (+420)
Orlando is one of the worst teams in the league in 3P%, with a 27th 34.3% from deep. They’re also attempting 34.1 triples per game, which is the ninth lowest mark in the league. They’re not exactly a modern offense, and they aren’t aiming to do so, despite acquiring Desmond Bane.
Luckily for the Magic, they’re also stingy in defending the perimeter, allowing only 34.3 triples per game, which is the fourth best mark in the league. Given the dynamics of this matchup tonight, it seems prudent to expect Orlando to emphasize shutting down the Sixers’ damage from the outside to counteract their own inefficiencies outside the arc. As a result, it seems likely that no player from either team will reach four triples this game, and that most of this game will be played in the lanes on the drive and post up.
