Two title contenders are set to clash this evening at American Family Field. The Blue Jays have struggled this season, recording a 6-9 record. Regardless, the reigning American League champions still have their eyes set on a trip to the World Series. It’s a similar story for the Brewers, who have struggled as of late. Milwaukee has lost five straight games, including its last three at home.
The Brewers are favorites (-131) over the Blue Jays, with the over/under set at seven runs. Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Tuesday’s showdown between Toronto and Milwaukee on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Blue Jays vs. Brewers prediction, preview
We’ve got quite the pitching matchup on tap in Wisconsin. It’ll be grizzled veteran Kevin Gausman taking the hill for the visitors this evening. The two-time All-Star has been a bright spot thus far for Toronto. Over 17.1 innings of work, the 35-year-old has recorded a 2.08 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 26 strikeouts. That includes solid performances against quality lineups such as the Athletics and Dodgers. Gausman was even better on the road (3.33 ERA) than he was at home (3.86 ERA) in 2025. Per Savant, American Family Field was tied for the second-friendliest pitcher’s park in baseball last season.
With that being said, the Blue Jays haven’t offered much support on offense this season. Canada’s team is only averaging 3.80 runs per game, sixth-lowest in the majors. Their 96 OPS+ ranks as the fifth-worst mark in the American League, while their seven stolen bases are the third-fewest in the Junior Circuit. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (155 wRC+) remains a fearsome slugger, but the rest of this lineup has disappointed. The absences of George Springer (toe), Addison Barger (ankle) and Alejandro Kirk (thumb) loom large at the moment.
It’s not as if these beleaguered Blue Jays will get much relief in tonight’s matchup. Milwaukee will hand the ball to Jacob Misiorowski, one of baseball’s most talented young arms. The second-year pro has looked the part of a future ace to kick off 2026. Through 16.1 innings this season, Miz has notched a 3.31 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 28 strikeouts. In two of his three appearances thus far, the right-hander has garnered double-digit strikeouts. With that being said, Toronto’s lineup is known for its exceptional contact skills. The AL East champs were second to last in the majors last season with 6.82 Ks per game. That level of plate discipline has continued this year (6.93).
Milwaukee suffered a significant blow on Tuesday, placing Christian Yelich (groin) on the injured list. The veteran had gotten off to a terrific start, slashing .314/.375/.451 at the dish. He joins fellow outfielder Jackson Chourio (hand) on the IL. Fortunately for the Brewers, there are still a handful of big bats taking the field this evening. Brice Turang (190 wRC+) and William Contreras (144 wRC+) are among the National League’s most impactful players. As a unit, Milwaukee is averaging the league’s sixth-most runs per game (5.33). However, the team has only scored a combined 12 runs over its last five contests.
Blue Jays vs. Brewers pick, best bet
Despite a red-hot start, the Brewers appear to have hit a speed bump. That was true prior to Yelich’s injury, a significant blow to Milwaukee’s offense. Toronto’s resistance to striking out should, at the very least, raise Misiorowski’s pitch count tonight. On the other side, Gausman’s success when pitching on the road should give the Blue Jays some confidence. In a battle between two great arms and two struggling lineups, I’m backing the underdogs.
