Prior to the 2024-25 season, Harry Kane had never won a major trophy in his career. Now, in his third season at Bayern Münich, he could realistically be on track for as many as five trophies. Die Roten are closing in on the Bundesliga and are into the semifinals of the DfB-Pokal, and England is among the favorites for the World Cup, which would likely seal Kane’s Ballon d’Or. Bayern also has a lead over Spanish giants Real Madrid after the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.
The second leg will begin at 3 p.m. ET (9 p.m. local) on Wednesday in Münich, with Die Roten leading 2-1 on aggregate. The winner will advance to face the reigning European title-holders, Paris Saint-Germain, in a two-legged semifinal tie at the end of the month and the start of May. PSG trounced Liverpool, 4-0, on aggregate.

The first leg was pretty competitive, with each team attempting 20 shots and producing at least two expected goals’ worth of chances, but Die Roten were just a little bit better, managing 2.92 expected goals to Real Madrid’s 2.2. Additionally, Bayern had a slight advantage in possession and generated three more corners. It’ll now return to the Allianz Arena, where it hasn’t dropped points in any competition since a January 24 Bundesliga loss to Augsburg, in which Neuer didn’t play. Los Blancos have continued to play poorly in La Liga, drawing at home to mediocre Girona.
Over 3.5 Total Goals
Both of these teams have pretty good defenses, with Die Roten ranking third in goals allowed per match and Real Madrid fifth, but these defenses pale in comparison to each team’s front line. Bayern leads all teams in expected goals and goals per match, while Los Blancos rank fourth and seventh. Though the teams only combined for three goals in the first leg, each has plenty of experience thrashing high-level defenses, with Die Roten combining for four with both Arsenal and Chelsea and Real Madrid combining for five with Barcelona.
Manuel Neuer 4+ Saves
Even if the total creeps over 3.5, Neuer should still be able to put up a big goalkeeping performance. Neuer made a season-high nine saves in the first leg, earning Man of the Match honors in the process. Los Blancos have fired 7.08 shots on target per match so far this campaign, but by goals minus expected goals, they’ve been the second-least clinical among the six teams that average at least seven, which should allow Neuer to rack up easy stops. In Bayern’s other matches against those six teams, Neuer racked up eight saves against Paris and five against Arsenal.
