After 82 games of regular-season action, the NBA Postseason has officially arrived. Four playoff matchups are set; four more will be etched in stone over the next few days based on the outcome of the Play-In Tournament. On Tuesday night, the Charlotte Hornets take the floor against a staple of this competition, the Miami Heat. The winner will advance to the second stage of the Play-In as the loser sees their season end. How’s a win-or-go-home environment sound?
Here are the top LaMelo Ball prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s Hornets vs. Heat game in the 2026 NBA Play-In Tournament.
Best LaMelo Ball prop bets
There are a couple of ways to view LaMelo Ball’s 2026 campaign. The pessimist may look at the surface, see 20.1 PPG and unimpressive shooting splits (40.7% FG%, 36.8% 3P%), and promptly dismiss the star for a down year. It’s true that his scoring average is the lowest since his sophomore season back in 2021-22. There are a multitude of reasons for that, though.
Ball’s workload has shifted pretty dramatically in terms of both responsibilities and minutes spent on the court. His 28.0 minutes a game are the fewest of his six-year career, but he appeared in 72/82 possible contests, his healthiest season in five years. He hasn’t had to shoulder the entire load for Charlotte either, enjoying the presence of co-stars like rookie sensation Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller. Perhaps that’s benefitted him as well, still pitching in 7.1 assists per game and a career-low 2.8 turnovers.
The lesson here? It’s best to take a more optimistic view on how Ball has performed. Now, he seeks to step up in a do-or-die matchup with a Hornets squad that became resurgent at the turn of the new year and managed to make the postseason.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Ball’s prop bet lines sit at 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 4.5 made threes. His combined PRA line sits at 36.5.
Looking toward the environment in this contest, there should be more opportunities than usual on offense. Of course, Ball should see something of a heavier minutes share given the win-or-go-home stakes. It wouldn’t be shocking he see him get a workload in the mid 30s by any means, especially since Charlotte doesn’t have to protect his health for the stretch run as it did for much of the regular season. Beyond that, though, the Heat are one of the NBA’s most active teams. They lead the league in pace at first in shot attempts per game and third in opponent attempts. With the second highest-scoring offense in terms of sheer PPG, Miami should push things here.
While the overs on his lines may entice some bettors, and for good reason. If there are a couple of prop bets to feel good about in this game, over 7.5 assists is a great option to start with. Ball went over this line in 33/72 contests, and while the hit rate isn’t fantastic, the circumstances are right for this over to cash given the pace of play and scoring potential across the board.
However, under 5.5 rebounds for Ball may be an even better option. He brings great size for a guard at 6-foot-7 and averages 4.8 boards a game, but the matchup is a very difficult one on the glass. Look at it this way. The Heat have Bam Adebayo and Kel’el Ware averaging over nine boards apiece in the frontcourt as the primary centers, plus Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and more play key roles while crashing the paint. Miami ranks fourth in rebounds per game and 13th in REB%, so given the outlook here, fading the rebounding category for Ball makes a lot of sense. He’s stayed under this 5.5 line in 43/72 games this season and should do so again.
Best bet: LaMelo Ball under 5.5 rebounds
Slight lean: LaMelo Ball over 7.5 assists
