Up next is the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links (par 71, 7,243 yards, POA Trivialis greens) in Hilton Head, South Carolina. As one of the PGA TOUR’s eight Signature Events of the season, this will be a limited field of 82 players competing for a $20 million purse and there will be no cut. At last year’s RBC Heritage, Justin Thomas (-17) defeated Andrew Novak in a playoff.
Below, I have featured my two favorite bets for the RBC Heritage on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Collin Morikawa for a top-10 finish including ties (+176)
After missing over a month with a back injury, Morikawa finished T-7 at the Masters last week. The former Open champion opened with a 2-over 74 at Augusta National, but he then shot under par in his final three rounds. Morikawa gained strokes on approach and with his putter for the third straight start, and this marked his fourth consecutive top-seven finish, which began with his win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.
Morikawa was walking around Augusta National gingerly, so the back injury is still lingering, but nonetheless, seeing him finish high at the major was very encouraging and his terrific season should continue at Harbour Town.
Morikawa has finished inside the top-10 in two of his six starts at the par 71 and this season, he ranks first in SG APP and second in proximity to the hole on approach shots from 175-200 yards out. Harbour Town is a second-shot course where approach play is extremely important. Four of the last five winners here have finished the event top-seven in SG APP and over the last five years, 25.3% of approach shots at Harbour Town have come from 175-200 yards, so Morikawa is a perfect match for the venue.
Viktor Hovland for a top-20 finish including ties (+102)
Hovland has finished inside the top-20 in four of his seven starts this season. The seven-time PGA TOUR winner finished T-18 at the Masters last week and his game was firing on all cylinders in the final round at Augusta National, when Hovland carded a 5-under 67.
Hovland ranked ninth in SG APP for the major and he ranks 19th in the statistic this season. Hovland also ranks 33rd in SG ARG. With the greens so small at Harbour Town, being in strong form with your irons is most crucial, but being efficient around the greens is also important. Three of the last five winners at this par 71 have finished the tournament top-10 in SG ARG.
Hovland finished T-13 at Harbour Town last season and he is a sensational bet for a top-20 finish at this plus-money price.
