Phil Collins
Thanks to Collins, no one will ever be able to utter the phrase “I can feel it”, without needing to finish the legendary lyric while playing the air drums. In the history of rock & roll, not many drummers (which is just the tip of the iceberg with Phil) will have had as much of an impact as him.
Billy Idol
The unmistakable London punk rocker’s music has survived many decades, cementing him as a superstar both in England and the States.
Iron Maiden
If you look up heavy metal in the dictionary, there will likely be a picture of Iron Maiden alongside the definition. The British group has been incredibly steady throughout their entire career, never submitting to the pressure of changing trends or time.
Joy Division/New Order
Turning tragedy into transformation, Joy Division could have called it quits (and would have been fair to do so) after the untimely passing of Ian Curtis. Instead, they evolved, renaming their group to New Order and completely remodeling their sound with the addition of keyboardist Gillian Gilbert. Their single “Blue Monday” still stands today as the best-selling 12-inch single of all-time.
Oasis
It’s only right that Oasis earns this honor following the reconciliation of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. The Manchester natives brought an entire nation together with their music, delivering a plethora of anthems that will fill crowds at football matches or find the corner of the sleepiest pub in England long after they’re gone.
Sade
Arguably the most underrated performer among this year’s nominees, Sade is the definition of “your favorite artist’s favorite artist”. The vocal philosopher empowered millions of her listeners, serving as inspiration for some of the most legendary singers of all-time, including Adele and Beyonce.

One of the most immaculate voices to ever grace a stage, Vandross meticulously created many of the most memorable love songs we all know today. His range as a singer, both in his original music and ability to adapt classics and transform them into something differently entirely, is the reason he’ll enter the hall later this year.

There are people who alter a certain culture, and then there are people who create one. Wu-Tang Clan falls within the latter category, garnering a never-before-seen cult following for a hip-hop group, changing the game from a musical and business perspective.
