Top Pitching Matchups for April 13, 2026

  • Paul Skenes looks to be back on track after his Opening Day disaster and faces the Washington Nationals tonight.
  • Will Warren has an 8.5 K/9 and faces an Angels lineup that has been one of the most strikeout-prone thus far.
  • Garrett Crochet has the stuff to quiet any lineup, even a hot hitting team like the Twins.

Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners Probable Pitchers

  • Houston Astros: Mike Burrows
  • Seattle Mariners: George Kirby
  • Time: 4:10 PM ET

Lefties have had their way with Burrows in the early going, tagging him with a .489 wOBA, a 7.62 FIP, and two of the three home runs he’s allowed. He’ll be opposed by Kirby, who has a solid 3.60 ERA and an even better xERA of 2.95.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Baltimore Orioles Probable Pitchers

  • Arizona Diamondbacks: Ryne Nelson
  • Baltimore Orioles: TBD
  • Time: 6:35 PM ET

Nelson has been even worse than his surface numbers suggest, with an ERA of 4.20, an xERA of 5.61, and a 6.19 FIP.

Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies Probable Pitchers

  • Chicago Cubs: Javier Assad
  • Philadelphia Phillies: Cristopher Sanchez
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Assad made his first start of 2026 and was great against the Rays, shutting them out through 5.2 innings and allowing just one hit. Sanchez has been fantastic through three stats, posting a 1.65 ERA with an xERA of 3.14 and a 12.6 K/9.

Washington Nationals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Probable Pitchers

  • Washington Nationals: Cade Cavalli
  • Pittsburgh Pirates: Paul Skenes
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Cavalli is due for some regression, as his 4.22 xERA is nowhere close to his 2.51 ERA, and he sports a 5.6 BB/9 through 14.1 innings. Skenes has rebounded very well from his disastrous Opening Day start against the Mets. Since then, he’s thrown 11.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts.

Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees Probable Pitchers

  • Los Angeles Angels: Yusei Kikuchi
  • New York Yankees: Will Warren
  • Time: 7:05 PM ET

Despite allowing 11 runs through 14.2 innings, Kikuchi has an xERA of 3.81 with a 3.05 FIP. He’ll face Warren, who has been just as good as advertised with a 3.07 ERA and a 3.55 xERA.

Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves Probable Pitchers

  • Miami Marlins: Eury Perez
  • Atlanta Braves: Grant Holmes
  • Time: 7:15 PM ET

Perez has been shaky with his command through his first 16 innings, with nine walks issued. Holmes hasn’t racked up the strikeouts as we’ve seen in the past, but he’s been very efficient overall. He’s limited hard contact to just 30% through 17.2 innings.

Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Probable Pitchers

  • Boston Red Sox: Garrett Crochet
  • Minnesota Twins: Bailey Ober
  • Time: 7:40 PM ET

The strikeouts for Crochet continue to be his biggest strength, as he owns an 11.4 K/9 through 17.1 innings. He’ll face Ober, who has seen a huge drop in strikeouts, going from a 7.3 K/9 last year to just a 4.6 through 13.2 innings.

Cleveland Guardians vs. St. Louis Cardinals Probable Pitchers

  • Cleveland Guardians: Gavin Williams
  • St. Louis Cardinals: Matthew Liberatore
  • Time: 7:45 PM ET

Williams has been fantastic on the mound and has been generating swings-and-misses at a current career-high rate of 13%. He’ll face Liberatore, who has already allowed four home runs through 16 innings.

Texas Rangers vs. Athletics Probable Pitchers

  • Texas Rangers: Nathan Eovaldi
  • Athletics: Luis Severino
  • Time: 9:40 PM ET

Eovaldi went more than 4.2 innings for the first time last season and only allowed two runs against the Red Sox. He’ll face Severino, who is averaging almost a walk per inning with 13 through 13.1 innings.

New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Probable Pitchers

  • New York Mets: David Peterson
  • Los Angeles Dodgers: Justin Wrobleski
  • Time: 10:10 PM ET

Peterson has allowed five runs in back-to-back starts against the Diamondbacks and Giants heading into tonight. He’ll face Wrobleski, who stepped into the rotation in his last appearance and held the Blue Jays to just one run on two hits in five innings.
